Michelle Obama says 'we could've never gotten away' with what Trump does, Internet calls POTUS a 'traitor'
Former first lady Michelle Obama revealed that she and former President Barack Obama 'could've never gotten away with some of the stuff going on now' in the White House. While speaking in the latest episode of her Spotify podcast on Wednesday, September 16, Michelle Obama opened up on race and the expectations of Black America when Barack had been president. In the podcast, Michelle shared, "When we were in the White House, we could've never gotten away with some of the stuff that's going on now, not because of the public, but our community wouldn't have accepted that."
"You worked, you did your best every day. You showed up," she shared. Many social media users seemed to be in agreement with what Michelle was saying about getting away with certain behaviors at the White House. One such user wrote, "For that matter, no one else could have either. Trump epitomizes all of the following, and many other things my mom would make me scrub the inside of my mouth with soap for - White supremacy White privilege Slave master God complex Xenophobia Narcissism Misogyny You get the idea." Yet another user who echoed the same sentiments commented and said, "Obama family held to a different standard. The press got all over michelle for wearing sleeveless dresses and shorts. The press got all over Obama for a tan suit. Republicans got all over the Obama children for what they were wearing to school."

White supremacy
White privilege
Slave master
God complex
Xenophobia
Narcissism
Misogyny
You get the idea.
Another user commented and said, "First of all the Obama’s are not like the trumps. Second, nobody would’ve gotten away with the crimes that TRAITOR has committed everyday. In almost 4 years I’ve never heard anybody say that trump had did a good thing, never." "This is an understatement, to say the least. The Obamas, who are a loving, well-adjusted family with not a whiff of scandal or impropriety, were perpetually examined under the microscope for any perceived wrong. They were victims of blatant racism," commented yet another social media user.

Michelle had also spoken with her mother Marian Robinson and her brother Craig and recalled how he had once got stopped by the cops while riding his bike down the street when he was just 10 or 11. "What a lot of folks who are not in our position don't understand is that this is such a way of life when it comes to interacting with the rest of the world," Michelle said.
"When you leave the safety of your home and go out into the street, where being Black is a crime in and of itself, we have all had to learn how to operate outside of our homes with a level of caution and fear, because you never know," she continued.
The former first lady added how 'almost everybody' she knows had gone through 'some kind of incident where they were just minding their own business but living Black, and got accused of something'. She revealed how from a young age black children are taught they must exceed expectations should they want to be seen as good enough. "You’re taught, you know, people are going to assume the worst of you. So you’ve got to be better than, you’ve got to be 10 times better than," she said.
