Former First Lady Michelle Obama gushed over her daughters during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show, noting how they are all grown-up and bringing home grown-up boyfriends.

The 58-year-old was reminded how Sasha, 20, and Malia, 23, were invited to the program for the first time as little girls who wanted to see the Jonas brothers. Now, over a decade later, their mother marveled at how time flew by and they became adults before she could realize it. This comes as Ellen is preparing to leave the talk show scene, and Michelle has already committed to appear on the show’s final episode airing Thursday, May 26, 2022.

"Now they're bringing grown men home," the ex-FLOTUS said of her daughters. "Now they have boyfriends and real lives and all that stuff. They have grown up right before our very eyes and they are doing well." The proud mother gushed about the "amazing young women" they had become, remarking, "Women, I know! Scary." She also revealed that they were dating and spilled some beans about their love lives.

It's worth noting that Malia has been pictured with Rory Farquharson since 2017, but the younger sibling Sasha has not been photographed with a boyfriend. Rory, a Harvard student, is the son of Charles Farquharson, the CEO of Insight Investment Management, and his wife Catherine, an accountant. That said, it's unclear whether Malia and Rory are still dating as she has never addressed her relationship status publicly.

Both sisters are currently living in Los Angeles. Malia has a position on the writing team of a new Amazon project by Donald Glover, while Sasha is attending the University of Southern California after transferring from Michigan. The siblings are known to maintain a low profile and lead private lives, with neither having public social media pages. Michelle told Ellen how they both moved back home with their parents for several months during the pandemic. "It was an extra special treat to have them that little bit of time, because being with them as adults is fun. I mean, I love them at every age," she said.

Michelle said she's proud of how her daughters are adjusting to life after the White House. She said they always wanted to ensure Sasha and Malia weren't spoiled. "I listened to what my mother said when she was raising us. She said, 'I'm not raising babies. I'm raising real people to be out in the world,'" Michelle said. "And I kept that in mind with the girls. I mean they wouldn't always be in that bubble of the White House. So they had to learn how to make their beds, and they had to learn how to drive. They had to learn how to be compassionate, independent, responsible people, so that they enter the world as responsible, compassionate, capable people. And I think they are amazing young women because of that," she explained.

The former FLOTUS also reflected on her 30-year marriage with former President Barack Obama. "I've known him for a long time, that guy. He's been around, hanging out," she told the host, admitting that their White House tenure was a "hassle" but brought them "closer" to each other.

"It gave us the opportunity to do something outside of ourselves, to serve our country. To do it as a team. I respect him. I know a lot of people miss him right around now," Michelle told Ellen of her husband. "Amazingly, that time in the White House, because we were working on hard things all the time, it brought us closer. We had to be each other's best friends. We lived in the bubble with each other, and had to learn how to get along because he was the person I was seeing all the time." She added, "He is the only person, that, we understand what we both went through. And we have that unique experience."
