The former first lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, 55, was once again named the 'most admired woman of the year'.

The current First Lady, Melania Trump, 49, was in second place but quite far behind during this 2019 poll. This is the second year in a row that Michelle has been named Gallup's 'most admired woman'. According to Gallup, Michelle earned 10% of the vote while Melania earned 5%.

The first ladies were followed by Oprah Winfrey, 65, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, 72, as well as teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg, 16, all of whom had secured around 3% each in the annual poll.

Other women in the running included Queen Elizabeth II, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Gallup shared, "Obama has had stronger finishes in the past two years than during her eight years as first lady when no more than 8 percent of Americans named her."

Though Michelle was named the 'most admired woman of the year', her percentage had dropped from 15% to 10% this year. This year she was also crowned the 'most admired woman' in the July YouGov Poll where she beat Clinton, Winfrey, Queen Elizabeth, and Angelina Jolie.

Michelle spent the majority of the year on a sold-out tour for her memoir 'Becoming'. She and her husband and former president Barack Obama also produced their first Netflix documentary this year.

We had previously reported that according to Netflix, the Obamas will "produce a diverse mix of content, including the potential for scripted series, unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries, and features. These projects will be available to the 125 million-member Netflix households in 190 countries."

When it comes to the 'most admired man of 2019' Barack Obama and President Donald Trump tied for first place. Trump's tie with Obama was the highest that Trump has ever ranked on the annual list.
