Michael Douglas at 78 is spitting image of his dad Kirk Douglas in recent appearance with son Dylan
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Michael Douglas looked like a carbon copy of his dad, Hollywood legend Kirk Douglas, in a recent appearance with his son Dylan. The 'Basic Instinct' star and his son were snapped while attending the opening night of the Broadway play, 'Good Night Oscar,' on Monday, April 24.
Michael, 78, donned a navy blue suit over a black button-up shirt, while Dylan Douglas, 22, opted for a semi-casual outfit with a grey suede blazer, blue pants, and a blue and back striped shirt. He completed the look with a beaded necklace and black sneakers. That said, fans were stunned at how much Michael looks like his father, the late and great Kirk Douglas, as he grows older.

'I had to do a double take'
Fans reacted to the uncanny resemblance in the comments section of a Facebook post by Good Morning America. "Michael Douglas looks just like his dad! Great picture of Father and Son!" one wrote. "I had to do a double take. Michael looks exactly like his dad now," another remarked. "The older Michael gets, the more he looks like his dad. Congratulations Michael and Dylan!" someone else added.
Dylan is Michael's son with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, and in his case, fans insisted he looked more like his mother. "He IS his mother's son!" one wrote of Dylan. "Have always Loved beautiful Michael Douglas, but gorgeous Dylan is the spitting, male version of his Stunning Mama!! ♥️😁♥️ Love them ALL!!" another offered.
'Dad was one of a kind'
It's worth noting that Michael and Kirk were very close. Kirk was lucky to live long enough to see his children achieve the heights of success and grow old. He died when he was 103 years old, and his son was distraught at his passing. "There wasn't anyone like him…and Dad was one of a kind," Michael told Entertainment Tonight about his father. Kirk, while being an idol for his son, also loved to crack jokes and tease him. In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the 'Fatal Attraction' star remembered phone conversations with his dad when he would say, "Enough with you; let me talk to your wife."
Having said that, Michael and Kirk did not always have the perfect relationship. They had to overcome a few hurdles to get their relationship to where it was towards the end of Kirk's life. Kirk was one of the most coveted actors of his time, and his dedication to his craft took a toll on his family life. There was a time when he was doing up to five movies a year, and Michael told The Hollywood Reporter that he felt his father spent time with the family only out of guilt, especially after parting ways with Diana Douglas.
In 1962, however, Kirk suffered a stroke and was under the care of his son Michael. It was a trying time, but the ordeal brought him closer to his children. In 2010, Michael was diagnosed with throat cancer, and that added yet another building block to their close bond.
Michael remembered how his father would visit him almost daily. "We're becoming the father and son we never were," the actor expressed at the time. However, Michael said Kirk remained his biggest supporter until the end of his life. "Dad - I love you so much and am so proud to be your son," he wrote in a tribute after his demise.
