Michael Bublé, who took a hiatus from singing after his son Noah was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2016, has revealed he was told that his step back from the music industry could jeopardize his career.

The Canadian singer-songwriter, 44, said following his return to the stage last summer, he "cried for two hours" after becoming overwhelmed with emotion.

Michael's illustrious music career went from strength to strength after receiving worldwide acclaim for his 2005 album 'It's Time', with the crooner proceeding to win four Grammys and selling 75 million albums across the globe.

That said, his world turned upside down when his son Noah was diagnosed with liver cancer at just three years of age.

Speaking to The Sun, Bublé revealed how industry bosses warned he would be risking it all if he took a break from performing.

"When I went away and went through our family stuff with our son, I never knew if I was coming back," he told the outlet. "Then I had different promoters telling me, 'Listen Mike. This might be over for you'."

The 'Winter Wonderland' hitmaker said he was warned that people "forget quick" and that if he took the hiatus, his fans would simply move on to "the next thing".

Fortunately, Michael was able to return to the stage after little Noah got the all-clear from his doctors. His first comeback performance took place at Dublin's Croke Park. However, the star was overwhelmed with the entire episode and found it difficult to believe that his son had actually recovered from the life-threatening disease.

"My first show back, I played Croke and I cried for like two hours afterward," he recalled. "It was too emotional for me. I was too happy. Noah is great, thank God."

Michael shares the six-year-old boy with wife Luisana Lopilato, with whom he tied the knot back in 2011. The couple also has another three-year-old son, Elias, and a 17-month-old daughter Vida.
