'Coward' Miami Mayor Francis Suarez compared to Ted Cruz for attending NYC fundraisers amid Hurricane Ian
MIAMI, FLORIDA: Hurricane Ian is currently wreaking havoc and as the state of Florida braces for further damage, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez is missing from action, according to reports. The mayor was reportedly more than a thousand miles away while his own city was under the flood and tornado watch, attending an event held at a five-star property which is a known celebrity hang-out spot. Users on social media ended up comparing him to senator Ted Cruz who also reportedly "fled" Texas in 2021 when the state was battling the cold wave.
Suarez, 44, was said to be at the exclusive Casa Cipriani, a private members club and hotel in Lower Manhattan, attending an hour-long lunch. The New York Post revealed that the 43rd Mayor of Miami also managed to grace a second fundraiser at Le Bilboquet, the posh Upper East Side French restaurant. The outlet further reports that the Big Apple fundraisers were held somewhere around the same time he tweeted to the citizens of Miami to “stay informed & stay safe” as the Category 4 hurricane laid waste to everything in its path. These fundraisers were held for Suarez’s Agenda for America PAC. The source also told the outlet that Suarez stayed at the five-star Lowes Regency hotel near Central Park. The report claims that at least 40 people attended the fundraiser, with some "real estate guys, developers, a lot of different people who went to support him."

According to the report, the fundraisers were hosted by Casa owners Michael and Joe Cayre, as well as Anthony Carone, Frank Carone's brother, who is NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ chief of staff. Suarez had tweeted on Wednesday, September 28, warning the citizens of Miami of the hurricane even though the city wasn't said to be hit by the eye of the storm. "In the last 24 hours, the @CityofMiami received 2.8 inches of rain & is expected to get up to 6 inches throughout today & tomorrow. We should expect considerable rainfall. Right now we are under a tornado watch & flood warning until tomorrow. Please stay informed & stay safe," he had tweeted.

Francis Suarez compared to Ted Cruz for fleeing city amid emergency
In February 2021, Texas was hit with a winter storm as record-low temperatures brought life to a deadlock. President Joe Biden even declared an emergency, but a viral image showed Ted Cruz leaving the city and going to Cancun in southern Mexico. Slamming Suarez for leaving the city and comparing him to Cruz, one user wrote, "He carpool with Ted Cruz?" Another user wrote, "This brings back memories of old Ted Cruz when he disappeared on Texans." One more user said, "Can't wait for all leftys to dub him Fundraiser Francis. Far worse than what Cruz did...on multiple levels."

One angry user slammed Suarez for leaving the city saying, "This storm is a crisis for all of south Florida and other areas. This is a time for all hands on deck. Step the F up. Probably a career ending decision. He had potential to go places. He blew it."
Another user tweeted, "Soon to be ex-mayor." One very angry user tweeted, "Just like @tedcruz did when the storm hit. Leave everyone behind to fend for themselves. These men are cowards. @MiamiMayor."
