Dylan Dreyer gives birth to 2nd son after struggling with infertility problems: 'I feel so happy and blessed'
Meteorologist and '3rd hour of TODAY' co-host Dylan Dreyer gave birth to her second son on Thursday, January 2. Just a day after welcoming Oliver George Fichera to the world, Dylan and her husband, Brian Fichera, called into the show she had taken a break from hosting and announced the exciting update about the new addition to their family.
"I feel good," Dylan told her co-hosts. "I just feel so happy and so blessed."
She said that Oliver, who weighed seven pounds and two ounces at birth and measured 19 inches, did not have any particular significance behind his name. Rather, the name was picked out because it was something that both she and her husband liked.
The couple also has an older son, Calvin, 3, who has perfectly adjusted to his role of big brother, Dylan said.
“Everything just clicked," she explained. "There was no adjustment period. This is just us. This is our family.”
The news that Dylan was expecting a second baby was announced back in July. In a sweet home video, aired on TODAY's show, Calvin helped break the news along with his mother. In the adorable clip, Calvin looked at a sonogram image and deduced that there were “five babies” in “mommy’s belly.” Obviously one had to forgive him for his lack of knowledge about human anatomy.
Dylan and Brian had opened up about their struggles to expand their family after their first baby after they found out that they were dealing with secondary infertility. After the devastation of a miscarriage, they decided to pursue IVF. However, after Dylan picked up her first rounds of medication, she said that her doctor called her with some ecstatic news. "My doctor calls and says, 'Don't take anything. You're pregnant!'" she emotionally said on TODAY in July. "I'm just so happy now.”
Brian posted a picture of the couple with their newborn baby on his Instagram page.
