Singer Melissa Etheridge, who performed at Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston's wedding 20 years ago, has never shied away from giving her opinion on the 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood' star's marriages and how she preferred his first wife over the second.
During her appearance on 'Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen' on April 6, Etheridge said that just like millions of fans who still ship Pitt and Aniston, she really got excited to see them bump into each other at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January.
“I loved Brad and Jen together,” she admitted. “They were beautiful. I believe they will always remain friends because they’re two very special people that can get through anything. I hope that their friendship lasts. Of course, we would love to see [them together]. Those were the glory days. I remember those days!”
However, as we have reported earlier, there could be something more than just friendship brewing between the former spouses. It all started when Pitt graced the 'Friends' star's 50th birthday bash last year. The two of them have since reportedly gone on a number of secret dates including a tryst at Aniston's mansion during the Christmas holidays.
Pitt was seen mouthing the words "oh my God" during Aniston's acceptance speech at the SAG Awards, and they were later seen holding hands backstage. When she was asked about how she felt seeing Brad that evening, she sweetly replied, "It just feels like a really fun night to cheer each other on. We’ve all grown up together, we really have."
On being inquired about rumors of them getting back together, she felt it was "hysterical" and added, "But what else are they going to talk about?"
Body language expert Patti Wood told Good Housekeeping that there was a certain “tenderness” between Pitt and Aniston when they were pictured running into each other at the backstage.
"It indicates that she trusts him ... she's giving her weight forward. She is not making it too sexual because she's got her feet back, but the photo to me shows trust," Patti claimed. "So little of their faces are showing and yet we know they're joyful and I just love that moment of absolute intimacy between them. That's not for the cameras, they're sharing that joy."
Etheridge has maintained that she was always a close friend of the actor till he married Angelina Jolie and she “lost a friend." She has been publicly critical of the 'Maleficent' actress in the past. She threw some shade at her once again while on the talk show recently.
“I was hoping I could do your show without mentioning her whose name will not be mentioned!" she gleefully said after being asked to dish about Pitt's former flame.
After Pitt divorced Jolie back in 2016, Etheridge said that the allegations against the actor being physically abusive toward his kids were “completely unfounded” and “heartbreaking.” Although he had not seen the actor for the last 10 years at that point, she said that she did not believe that Pitt could be physically or verbally abusive toward his children.
“It breaks my heart that anyone would take something as personal as your marriage and your relationship and your rights to your children and do it as purposefully as I see it being done,” she said, Hollywood Life reported.
