Melania refuses to kiss Trump on the lips, offers cheek instead in awkward moment during White House speech
First Lady Melania Trump seems to be avoiding close intimacy with her husband Donald Trump for a while now. She was seen accompanying him in the White House's East Room for a celebratory address post his impeachment acquittal, and apparently turned her cheek in when Trump leaned in to kiss her.
She was looking on as Trump addressed his supporters and political allies for around an hour. After finishing the speech, before walking off, he put his arm around Melania and pursed his lips into a kiss inches away from her face, only to meet her cheeks.
The 49-year-old looked stunning in a $1,290 black and white polka-dot Gabriela Hearst blouse which she had paired with a Michael Kors blazer estimated to cost around $1,395. She had her blazer over her shoulders but had not put her arms through the sleeves. She had her hair styled down and sported a smokey eye, bronzer, and groomed brows.
During the speech, Trump thanked his family, complimented his friends, and also name-dropped those who he blamed for impeaching him. He shared, "It was evil, it was corrupt, it was dirty cops. It was leakers and liars." The president also referred to the Russia probe as 'all bulls***' to the crowd.
Trump shared, "Had I not fired James Comey - who was a disaster, by the way - it's possible I may not have even been standing here right now. When I fired that sleazebag, all hell broke out." He also had a lot to say about several others including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff, Senator Mitt Romney, Hunter Biden, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe — and the FBI lovers, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.
This is not the first time that Melania has appeared to reject Trump's advances in PDA. Back in 2017, Melania was seen swatting her husband's hand away while on the tarmac in Israel sending Twitter into a frenzy.
First daughter Ivanka Trump was also present at the event watching her father speak. The 38-year-old also rushed to give him a big hug.
Ivanka was seen sporting a black turtleneck and a slate gray pantsuit. The lapel of her jacket featured an American flag pin.
