Melania sports French designer buckle pumps, black Prada dress as she rings NYSE's opening bell
First lady Melania Trump was seen in New York City on September 23 where she rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). For the event, she was seen sporting a pair of iconic French buckle pumps. She greeted schoolchildren while sporting a sleeveless black Prada dress which had a matching belt and some front flap pockets. Melania's leather buckle pumps were designed by Rogier Vivier for the event.
Vivier is known for slipping his stilettos on Catherine Deneuve when she acted in 'Belle de Jour.' The first lady had initially worn the heels with a black Christian Dior coat while she was visiting France on her European summer. The pumps are around four inches high and feature metal buckles and square toes. They reportedly cost around $775.
She was seen escorted by NYSE's first female president Stacey Cunningham as well as children from the United Nations International School. Melania Trump has been slammed by social media users after she rang the NYSE's opening bell as part of her Be Best initiative. According to several social media users, Melania used the event for a photo opportunity with the children. One user wrote, "Melania ringing the NY Stock Exchange bell - a stand-in for her 'husband', the money-maker via market manipulation. Just another photo op with “diverse” students as props. Just say no."
"Good to see Melania is not doing absolutely nothing. Ringing a bell is about her speed. Did I mention her visa application is fraudulent and she should be deported? You know - law and order. Vote all GOP out. Integrity matters," another user added.
Many parents had voiced their concerns and said their children's appearance with Melania would look like an endorsement of the Trump administration. Parents were also extremely angry that their children were being manipulated and used as 'political props.'
