Stephen Colbert's 'Late Show' slammed for airing clips of people hurling abuse at Melania Trump in sick parody

Reactions to Melania Trump's farewell speech continue to pour in, a mix of positive and negative, 'The Late Show' gave the FLOTUS a musical send-off laden with jabs, mocks, and insults as she and President Donald Trump gear up to exit the White House. CBS host Stephen Colbert mocked her address and said, "I think your message was clear, particularly to the Boogaloo Boys, the Proud Boys, and the Children of the Corn."

This though did not go down well with netizens on Twitter as they bashed the host of the show. Colbert called Melania out for being "mostly silent" following the Capitol riots. Broadway actress Laura Benanti, who frequently appeared on 'The Late Show' impersonating Melania played the first lady. The music was a parody of “Belle” from 'Beauty and the Beast.' According to Fox News, Benanti as Melania first told Colbert she was "ditching that loser" and returning to New York City before launching into the musical parody. "It's so good to be in NYC, the Be-Bestest city on earth, the Huge Apple, the city that never sleeps with a porn star and lies to you about it," Benanti quipped, referring to Stormy Daniels. "Being here makes me feel, which is something that I don't normally do."

The clip saw locals in the video not really impressed by seeing the FLOTUS at Times Square. "F--- you," a pizza delivery man tells the "first lady" while flipping her the bird that was shown blurred, while another man says, "You suck."

Meanwhile, outraged Twitterati lambasted Colbert. "@StephenAtHome You talk about Trump's wife Melania. To marry you I bet your wife was a prostitute. They are thinking about ending your show in two months. I heard two of the producers talking just a day or two ago," read one of the comments.

One felt Colbert was in soup. "@LauraBenanti Stephen Colbert stole and used the music from Beauty and the Beast in a mocking video of First Lady Melania Trump with her accent. Disrespectful to all immigrants and copyright infringement! Disney needs to disavow this!"

The hate comments continued. "@CBS @StephenAtHome I don’t watch you, you are no David L. , I read what you said about Melania Trump, you are disgusting, now I hope your ratings drop and writers can’t come up w/anything, then we can give you the same kind of send off. #firecolbert #SCembarassment" This was seconded by another comment that read: "@StephenAtHome F...you - you slime - disrespecting The First Lady Melania! May God punish you! You are pure evil!"

"@StephenAtHome a fuck you to the First Lady? I think you're about 8 years late for that. First Lady Melania has been the best First Lady and most elegant since Jackie O, so you can take that fuck you and shove it up your ass sideways" read one of the comments.

"@StephenAtHome - you are a piece of shit for going after Melania Trump as she leaves the White House. What has she ever done to you or to others? You are a cruel person (I question myself as to calling you a “person”)," another said.
