'Supergirl' actor Mehcad Brooks, who has been vocal about the Black Lives Matter Movement, took to Instagram to share an anti-racism post. The post, which was a tweet that he had earlier shared in the day read, "Taking down confederate monuments are great. Now can we take down these confederate policies?"

He captioned the Instagram post with, "Some anti-racist thoughts for your week. Stay strong and remember love is accountability."

While the post received appreciation from many, there was one person who stirred up an aggressive argument on the thread. The person wrote, "How are Black people still oppressed today? There are Black people in Congress, Black Conservatives, and Black people making millions of dollars. Michael Jordan for one and Oprah. Athletes making millions of dollars. So my question, why are you saying Black people are oppressed, while many are living just fine? It's the black on black crime and father absence that's killing the black community, according to Candace Owens."

Brooks didn't back down and swiftly replied, "Just because we succeed with foot on our necks doesn't mean Candice Owens is correct, this speaks to how strong, determined and powerful we are. Not to the lack of oppression. Namaste."

However, the person refused to budge from his point and continued commenting, "Would you agree that black on black crime are killing more black people compared to white cops killing backs?" This led to an argument among many others who continued to stand up for the Black Lives Matter Movement and schooled the person on systemic racism and segregation, by putting forth the point of how flawed their research was and that why when Whites kill others in school shootings it's not referred to as a 'white on white' crime. They also made it clear that 'Black on Black crime' isn't a thing and to stop perpetuating such stereotypes. They also emphasized that everything in society is built off oppression of others to support white patriarchy and that racism is in everything.

Yet, this wasn't the only disbeliever in the movement that Brooks had to contend with, as another Instagram user wrote that the 'monuments were not racist'.

Between May 25 and July 14, 34 Confederate monuments were removed or relocated in the US, in the widespread protests that followed George Floyd's death. Some statues were torn down and vandalized, as voices began to rise against historic oppression and systemic racism. The statues included Stonewall Jackson, Jefferson Davis, Christopher Columbus, Albert Pike, and Dick Dowling.
