Megyn Kelly admits she’ll always have a ‘soft spot’ for George W Bush as she recalls his 9/11 speech
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Megyn Kelly remembered the tragic day of 9/11 when America changed forever after planes crashed into the iconic World Trade Centre in New York and the Pentagon building in Virginia.
The 52-year-old was paying tribute to all the fallen heroes and recalled then-President George W Bush’s speech a few days later atop the rubble at Ground Zero.
Kelly mentioned that former POTUS’ speech united the nation and for that many, including her, will “always have a soft spot” for President Bush notwithstanding “the foreign policy debacles that followed.”
Megyn Kelly recalls 9/11 and hails President George W Bush for his iconic speech
Kelly started off the segment by stating that it was hard for her to believe that it’s been 22 years since tragedy struck the nation.
The former Fox News host explained that there’s an entire generation that is out there doing great things but “don’t have an active memory of 9/11.”
Kelly admitted that the feelings surrounding the tragic event are still “very raw.” During the podcast, Kelly threw light on how the iconic skyline of New York was changed forever and so was the national identity of Americans who lived through the tragedy.
Kelly then recalled former President George W Bush’s iconic speech from atop the rubble of the World Trade Center where he promised his fellow Americans that the people who did this “will hear from them soon.”
After showing the clip of the former POTUS to her viewers, Kelly acknowledged that it was because of this moment that “many will have a soft spot” for the former President.
“He brought us together at a time when we were ripped right down to our fabric. It didn’t matter whether you were a Republican, a Democrat, an independent. What mattered back then: we were all Americans.”
She added, “We loved each other, our flag. Our political differences were secondary.”
Kelly also shared a clip of President Bush throwing the first pitch at a baseball game and later chanted “USA! USA!” on her show.
