Meghan McCain and Ben Domenech: A look at the couple's love story as they welcome baby girl Liberty Sage

Meghan McCain is now a mother. The 35-year-old co-host of 'The View' gave birth to her first child, Liberty Sage McCain Domenech, with husband Ben Domenech, a conservative writer, on September 28.

"We are excited to share the happy news that our @MeghanMcCain and her husband Ben Domenech have welcomed their first child, daughter Liberty Sage McCain Domenech!" read a tweet by The View. Both McCain and baby Liberty are healthy and doing well.

The announcement of her pregnancy was made in March, nine months after she experienced a devastating miscarriage. Talking about her pregnancy, she earlier told 'The View', "There's just a lot of people in a lot of pain right now. I just keep trying to remind myself that people have had babies in much worse and much more intense conditions and this is just how it’s going to be for a while."

In May, she shared that the couple will be keeping the details about her pregnancy journey private, in part due to the negative reaction she got online when her father, John McCain, died of cancer in August 2018. "Ben and I have made the conscious decision to guard our (growing) families privacy as much as is possible (sic)," McCain wrote on Instagram. "I believe children have a right to privacy and hope you will all understand as we navigate this as much as possible going forward without sacrificing our comfort or safety. A bunch of inhumane jacka**es have really ruined so much for so many on social media and I learned a lot of hard lessons about cruelty that comes with being open and vulnerable about my personal life during my Dad's cancer fight," she added.

However, in June, McCain share her appreciation for her husband for his support during her pregnancy. "Thank you for taking such wonderful care of my bloated, knocked up, swollen, pandemic navigating self," she Instagrammed alongside a throwback picture of the two. "I don’t know what I would do these days without such a strong, loving partner."

It is not clear exactly when Meghan met Domenech, but on one of the episodes of 'The View', she revealed that the two had dated "for years" before their 2017 engagement announcement. She also revealed to viewers that Ben had met her dad, the late Arizona Senator John McCain, at a family event. “(Ben) works in politics and has for a long time so he wasn’t as intimidated and he actually met my dad at my brother’s wedding for the first time and ended up talking about health care or something very wonky, He’s so conservative. He’s funny in his own way," she said on 'The View'.

As soon as the news of the childbirth made its way to Twitter, people started reacting to it, as one fan congratulated her and wrote, "Congratulations from Canada. What an absolutely perfect name. By the way love your new hair cut. Wish we the view fans could have seen you pregnant, not just shoulders up, bet you had a beautiful baby bump! I would say enjoy your new baby girl, try to gets some rest if you can." While another concerned fan wrote, "A girl.......... Oh how this mothering thing is going to be very eye opening for our Meghan. That’s for sure."

While some brought a political twist to the news and wrote, "Poor girl’s rights already hang in the balance as her Federalist Society husband pushes to put Amy Coney Barrett on SCOTUS to turn women into handmaids," and another said, "That poor child is going to be haunted by that wretched Liberty Mutual jingle."

While one super excited Netizen wrote, "I'm screaming with happiness and so excited for you! Would not expect anything else from a firecracker like you to deliver just a day before a major election. Beautiful name Happy birthday Liberty Sage." Another wrote, "I was so excited to see this, i had a brain fart. Hahahaha Meant election debate. Major congrats!!!!! Many blessings!!!!"
