Meghan McCain, co-host of 'The View', announced on Sunday, March 22 that she is expecting her first child with husband Ben Domenech. The duo tied the knot in November 2017.

The 35-year-old also said that she will now shoot the ABC show 'The View' from home as a precaution amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “My husband Ben and I have been blessed to find out I’m pregnant. Although this isn’t how I expected to announce my pregnancy, both we and our families are excited to share the news with you all.

“I consulted with my doctors and they advised me that for the safety of our baby and myself, I should be extra vigilant about limiting the amount of people we come in contact with,” McCain wrote on her Instagram account.

She continued: “Starting immediately, I’ll be joining the millions of Americans who are self-isolating as a precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As a result, I will be appearing on ‘The View’ from home via satellite. I’m fortunate that my employer, ABC, has allowed me and my co-hosts to work remotely. I am indebted to our producers and crew.”

McCain ended her post with an advisory, urging everyone to stay safe. “Wash your hands and avoid public gatherings and I will continue to see you each morning on The View,” she concluded.

A source close to McCain also spoke about her pregnancy to PEOPLE: “She and her family are very excited by the news. But right now, she’s finding strength at her role at The View. She knows her most important responsibility is to inform Americans to stay home and minimize the spread of the coronavirus.”

The news of the pregnancy came after eight months of McCain penning a heartbreaking opinion piece revealing she suffered a miscarriage. She wrote the piece in the New York Times in which she shared that she learned the hard news moments before a cover shoot for the Times' Magazine.

“I should have been proud. But inside, I am dying. Inside, my baby is dying. For a brief moment, I had the privilege of seeing myself in the sisterhood of motherhood. I had a miscarriage. I loved my baby, and I always will. To the end of my days I will remember this child — and whatever children come will not obscure that. I have love for my child. I have love for all the women who, like me, were briefly in the sisterhood of motherhood, hoping, praying and nursing joy within us, until the day the joy was over,” she said in her opinion piece.

However, McCain is not the only 'The View' co-host who will be practicing self-isolation amid the coronavirus outbreak which has affected over 342,000 across the world. Her colleague Joy Behar has also decided to self-isolate and take time off from the show while Whoopi Goldberg had already started appearing on the show from home via satellite last week.

A few days ago, McCain posted a picture showing a bottle of hand sanitizer taped to a mirror in one of the studio's dressing rooms. "Is it worth losing your job if you steal this?" a note pasted over the sanitizer bottle read hinting that employees on the sets were stealing sanitizers amid the shortage. She captioned the image: “Seen backstage @theviewabc #coronavirus #contagion."
