Meghan Markle faces backlash for sobbing in front of $1,625 Hermes blanket in Netflix documentary teaser
MONTECITO, CALIFORNIA: On Thursday, December 1, the teaser for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Netflix documentary was released. Now, a particular photo from the teaser showing the Duchess of Sussex crying has drawn attention on social media. Meghan is shown crying three times in the one-minute teaser released by Netflix, with one particular photo showing her sobbing on a comfortable chair with an expensive Hermes throw blanket, which reportedly costs around $1,625, neatly folded on its headrest.
As expected, the photo has sparked quite a controversy on social media since. One person wrote on Twitter, “I would rather hear the stories of the people #MeghanMarkle bullied. Not interested in seeing black & white footage of TW fake crying on an expensive Hermes blanket.” “This photo sums up perfectly the Meghan Markle con. ‘Boo-hoo! I managed to convince the dumbest Royal to marry me, and now all I can do is cry into my Hermes blanket because I've alienated his family with my nastiness. But you feel sorry for me, don't you?’” another quipped.

“Meghan is such a victim. Burying her face in her hands with a Hermes cashmere blanket behind her, wiping her face with her hand inside a limousine, and wiping her face again in what looks like the inside of a skyscraper apartment or luxury hotel. Oh, the stakes are so so high,” yet another user remarked. The six-part documentary series focuses on the couple's romance and their life as royal family members. The trailer was unveiled during the three-day US trip of William and Kate, the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The teaser opens with the royal couple answering the question, "Why did you want to do this documentary?" Meghan says, "When the stakes are this high doesn't it make more sense to hear our story from us?" A slideshow of Harry and Meghan's happy moments together makes up a significant portion of the teaser. Then comes what appears to be the docuseries' central topic. Harry says, "No one sees what's happening behind closed doors, I had to do everything I could to protect my family,” confirming that the upcoming Netflix series is an exposé of the royal family, disclosing several shocking pieces of information that have never been made public before.
Meanwhile, the teaser was slammed by many in the comments section, which was open, after being uploaded on YouTube. One person wrote, “I can't stop laughing at Meghan - "when the stakes are this high...." Like she's talking about the Cuban Missile Crisis or something LMAO!” “The part where she only invites one black family member to her wedding and then accuses the RF and Britain are racist. So brave and heroic. I welled up, one tear...left eye,” another quipped. “This might be the best Netflix comedy special yet,” yet another user remarked.
