Meghan Markle upsets royal staff by still working with her 'secret Hollywood team' to run her career
The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle is currently still working with her old Hollywood advisers who had helped shape her career, reports have revealed.
The mother-of-one has reportedly been using the team "on the quiet" as she gets ready for the publication of her first children's novel. According to a report by The Sun, sources have shared that this is against royal protocol as her projects should technically be handled by the royal staff and palace employees.
It has been said that Meghan has been receiving advice from Hollywood agent Nick Collins, lawyer Rick Genow and business manager Andrew Meyer.
According to the Palace, she has known the team for many years and they "remain friends". Hollywood agent Nick Collins is an employee of the Gersh Company which also represents celebrities such as Jamie Foxx and Toby Maguire.
The Duchess herself was a part of the company. A worker at the firm revealed that Collins had access to reach out to Meghan and could also speak on her behalf. A source shared, "He filters the deals and passes them on to Meghan."
An insider added that the role of Meghan's secret advisers had upset some of the palace staff. "As a full-time member of the Royal Family, it would be the expectation for that type of work to be exclusively handled by palace staff who balance individual desire over what's right for the wider institution," the insider shared.
"It is clear she is wanting to keep surrounding herself with her Hollywood people. That wasn't the expectation," the insider pointed out.
The Duchess has reportedly already finished the book. The book is believed to be a work of fiction and is expected to be a bestseller. The proceeds and earnings from the book will be going to charity.
Issuing the clarification on their work with the Duchess, A spokesman for the Buckingham Palace shared, "As it has been previously reported, Rick, Andrew, and Nick have been legal, financial and business advisers to the Duchess for many years during her career in the US, and remain friends."
Recently, Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry snubbed the Queen by not accepting her invite to Balmoral. The Queen always invites her family to her Scottish estate over her two-month summer.
Prince Harry's brother Prince William, his wife Kate Middleton and three children accepted the invite and went. According to royal sources, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not go as they felt that their newborn son baby Archie was too young.
