Even as questions are raised about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's future following their split from the royal family, sources claim the latter will be taking up the role of the breadwinner and is relishing the challenge.

The Sussexes had made a shock announcement earlier this month that, after "many months of reflection and internal discussion," they had chosen to step down as "senior members" of the royal family and wanted to "carve out a progressive new role" within the monarchy.

Part of achieving that "new role," they said, was to "work to become financially independent." The couple has since moved out of their Frogmore Cottage home with son Archie to a new one in Canada's Vancouver Island, and Meghan is seemingly wasting no time in taking up new jobs. After all, it looks like she has to lead the battle to financial independence.

"Meghan loves the idea of being the breadwinner," an insider told Us Weekly. "She has no plans to do another show like 'Suits', but Harry’s been encouraging her to do more voice-over work, writing, producing and directing in her free time."

Indeed, the 38-year-old former actress has already signed a voiceover deal with Disney in exchange for a donation to Elephants Without Borders, an organization formed to conserve wildlife and protect animals from poaching.

That deal seemed to have been one that was a long time in the making as well, with a video captured during the 'Lion King' premiere last July showing Harry talking to Disney CEO Bob Iger and expressing his wife's interest in getting involved in the voiceover industry.

He can be seen gesturing to Meghan and telling Iger, "You do know she does voiceovers, right?" A surprized Iger responds: "Ah, I did not know that." Harry smiles and says: "You seem surprised. She's really interested," to which the Disney boss then replies: "We'd love to try. That's a great idea."

Meghan had also worked in a variety of roles before her acting career took off with 'Suits,' including diplomacy at the Argentine embassy and calligraphy. "She doesn’t come from millions," another source told Us Weekly. "She’s worked hard to get to where she is today."

There may be other factors that require her to be the primary breadwinner as well, with Harry's lack of work experience and a university degree said to be a possible hindrance in the pair's bid to gain permanent residency in Canada. Canadian lawyer Mario Bellissimo, 35, had previously said that those two factors would "weigh heavily against him" in the immigration application process as most applicants had "higher education," including Masters and Ph.D's.

He also said Harry's philanthropic work will not be credited either, with the Canadian immigration system preferring self-employed candidates and those with a "proven track record of business management," adding that Meghan would have to step up as she had a history of work experience in Canada. With Harry's work experience disadvantaging him in the job market, it's up to Meghan to 'run' the household.

However, that has done little to put off Harry, who is said to be looking forward to starting his new life. "He’s really excited about the next chapter in their lives," the source said, adding that Meghan was "so happy" as well.
