It is a known fact that the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle and former first lady Michelle Obama have been on great terms for the past couple of months. However, Meghan has never been candid about how she feels about her "friend" Michelle.

The pair had collaborated together to work on the September issue of Vogue's Q&A which features on the last page. The upcoming issue was guest-edited by the mother-of-one, Meghan, who became the first guest editor of the September issue in the magazine's 103-year history. Meghan revealed that she wanted to end the issue with something inspirational "with gravitas and as much depth as levity". She decided to choose Michelle and in the introduction of the Q&A showered the former first lady with praise.

According to a report by Express, Meghan wrote, "My first thought was that it needed to be someone kind, inspirational, motivating, funny, with gravitas and as much depth as levity. My second thought: it needed to be Michelle Obama." She also revealed that she was stumped by Michelle's answers and how beautifully she had written. "It wasn't a huge ask, so to speak, because the back page of Vogue comprises a few simple questions to garner a few simple answers," Meghan said.

"What was sent back to me, however, left me somewhat speechless. A few 'simple questions' (which she could have answered with a sentence or two) were returned to me as a thoughtful, reflective and beautifully curated narrative – a gentle reminder not of how but of why she has become such a globally respected public figure. Whatever your background, it's easy to feel connected to Mrs. Obama," Meghan wrote. She added that Michelle has a magical way of being able to draw someone in with her down-to-earth personality.

Michelle's Q&A was focused on motherhood and what she learned from being a mother, her advice for other mothers, and also a sweet thought for the royal new parents Meghan and Prince Harry. In her response to what the most beautiful sound she had ever heard was, Michelle said, "When Malia and Sasha were newborns, Barack and I could lose hours just watching them sleep. We loved to listen to the little sounds they’d make. There is something so magical about having a baby in the house. Time expands and contracts; each moment holds its own little eternity. I’m so excited for you and Harry to experience that, Meghan. Savor it all."
