A visit to Scotland requires a bit of tartan to be flashed and no one wears it better than Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge. Kate was spotted with Prince William on January 29 at the official opening of the Victoria and Albert design museum as they greeted the locals of Dundee, Scotland. In what was a brilliant royal re-wear of an Alexander McQueen dress, Kate wore the stunning green and blue tartan coat dress once more after first donning it in 2012.

The royal mother-of-three, who celebrated her 37th birthday earlier this month, wore the piece for the first time in November 2012 during a visit to the St. Andrew's School in Berkshire, England. Aside from touring the school and unveiling a plaque, Kate was seen running around the field in her heeled boots playing field hockey, reported PEOPLE.

Kate's tartan structured coat made yet another appearance during the royal family's annual Christmas walk in 2013. When she went for that outing, she paired the coat with a green fascinator, black tights, and boots. When Kate wore the outfit on January 29, she made a subtle change to her outfit by choosing black heels over boots. She also carried a Manu Atelier Micro Bold bag in Monte Green.

However, Kate's sister-in-law Meghan Markle also wore a similarly patterned coat when she visited Edinburgh, Scotland with husband Prince Harry in February 2018. 37-year-old Meghan wore a long green and blue tartan coat from British icon Burberry and paired it with a black turtleneck, black pants, and a green crossbody bag from Scotland-based handbag designer Strathberry.

It was revealed on January 28 that Kate and Meghan have been the victims of racist and sexist online abuse by internet trolls. The staff at the Palace have had to reportedly intervene and spend hours every week fighting off the attacks against the royals.

A source at Hello! magazine said that the social media backlash against the duchesses has increased in recent months and this has ranged from pitting the sisters-in-law against each other to "violent threats" against them. In response to this, the news outlet has now launched the #HelloToKindness campaign in order to combat negative online behavior.

On January 29, Kate delivered a speech as she and her husband officially opened the V & A Dundee, the first design museum in Scotland. The art history graduate is a patron of the V & A, and even has an interest in promoting the "visual arts and highlighting the value that public institutions like the Dundee site can offer local communities, particularly in terms of increased accessibility to world-class art and design," Kensington Palace said in a statement.
