Meghan Markle was seen giving her bottle of water to a woman who was coughing at the UN. The Duchess of Sussex was attending the UN General Assembly in New York, marking Nelson Mandela International Day with her husband on Monday, July 18, when the incident happened.

The unidentified woman was also in attendance for the event when she began coughing and felt a bit of uneasiness. Markle was sitting in a row next to her and after noticing her, she immediately handed the water to her. That sweet gesture was shared on the internet with a few fans of the former actress calling her “Diana 2.0” and a “hero”.

However, it seemed not everyone was not happy with the limelight Markle was receiving for just giving a bottle of water. A user tweeted, “If everyone is a hero, then no one is.” Another user wrote: “The bar for heroics is at an all time low.” The third one said, “Hell naw!!” Sharing a meme, the fourth one sarcastically stated: “Aww Just look at them sat there, saving the world.”

A person sarcastically wrote, “like they were called mother teresa for delivering that ONE sandwich during the pandemic lockdown. they dont have to do much for their millions.” The second one tweeted: “Setting the bar pretty low huh.  I mean… there was a dude who stopped a mass shooter the other day and she gave a water bottle away.  She’s so brave.”

An amused user asked, “Do you this is enough to start canonization? Or do we have to wait for her to hold the door open for someone? Surely that will do the trick?” Another one said, “I don’t understand why they are there. Why are they anywhere? I thought they wanted to stay out of the spotlight? Oprah really led them wrong.” The third user joked, “A rather ordinary thing to do by anybody to do so is now considered heroic if a media darling does it. I wonder now if miracles will be attached to the act...🤔” The fourth one claimed, “If there weren't cameras there she would have had the person kicked out by security!”

A tweet read, “Hero for giving a bottle of water? Dang I saw a homeless guy offering someone a bottle of water and no one called him a Hero. What happened to decent reporting and can that idiot prince go away with her for good? We have enough of the Kardashians drama to keep us entertained.” “STAGED !!!!! that woman did one cough and MM handed the bottle.  No way was it impromptu,” a person alleged. Another one added: “It looks SO fake. She barely got 2 coughs out and a water bottle magically appears, MM never said ‘are you OK, would you like water? Just mechanically hands it and carries on.” “🤢🤢how unhygienic! Has markle ever heard of covid?” someone remarked.

Meanwhile, during the Monday event, Prince Harry addressed the attendess as he spoke about the time when he knew Markle was his “soulmate”. He said, “Since I first visited Africa at 13 years old, I’ve always found hope on the continent. It’s where I felt closest to my mother and sought solace after she died, and where I knew I’d found a soulmate in my wife.” The pair had been to Africa thrice — the first two trips happened when they were dating and the last one after their 2018 marriage.
