Meghan's friendship with 'idol' Ivanka airbrushed as 'Trump formula for success' jars against humanitarian act

'Finding Freedom' conveniently avoids discussing the Duchess of Sussex's friendship with the first daughter as it might hinder Harry and Meghan’s new mission

A royal expert claimed that the new biography on Harry and Meghan, 'Finding Freedom' conveniently avoids discussing the Duchess of Sussex's friendship with first daughter, Ivanka Trump because it “might jar against Harry and Meghan’s new mission” because she is the daughter of President Donald Trump.

Craig Brown, a columnist, and a satirist made the claim in a piece for the Daily Mail regarding the book published earlier this month, written by authors, Carolyn Durrand and Omid Scobie, who although never spoke to Harry and Meghan directly, claimed to have consulted an array of sources close to the couple in order to heighten the authenticity of their work.

Brown claimed that it is not a secret that Meghan once considered Ivanka her "idol" and as such was always excited to have an opportunity to meet her in the past. “In his largely adoring 2018 biography of Meghan, Andrew Morton revealed that after launching Tig in 2013, Meghan got in touch with Ivanka Trump, who was 'one of her female idols,'"' Brown wrote. “Meghan was 'thrilled when she accepted her invitation to meet for drinks and dinner the next time Meghan was in New York.'''

The mother-of-one was at the time fully prepared to shower Ivanka with all the praises she could handle about her business as well as her taste in food, according to Brown. “And so began a bout of vigorous back-scratching. 'Don't get me started on her jewelry collection: the late-night 'window shopping' I have done on my computer, snuggled up in bed with a glass of wine, staring longingly at her beautiful designs,' wrote Meghan of Ivanka,'' he wrote. “‘When we have drinks, I will make sure I order whatever she does – because this woman seems to have the formula for success and happiness down pat.'''

Brown said that the new biography conveniently failed to mention Meghan's past friendship with Ivanka and one of the reasons could be because 'Finding Freedom'' claimed to tell the real story behind Megxit – the Sussex's point of view in the whole transition from members of the royal family to a celebrity couple living in the United States, trying to establish themselves as humanitarians. "The authors of Finding Freedom conveniently airbrush Ivanka from the record, perhaps fearful that the Trump formula for success and happiness might jar against Harry and Meghan's new mission to 'build a humanitarian legacy that will make a profound difference in the world,'" Brown wrote.

And just as well because Ivanka's father does not seem to be the biggest fan of the couple and neither are Harry and Meghan extremely fond of the sitting president. As soon as the couple moved to Los Angeles in March, there were questions as to who would pay for their private security since the costs ran in millions. Trump wasted no time in announcing that the US would not be footing the couple's security bill.

"I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen and the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada,'' he tweeted at the time. ''Now they have left Canada for the US. However, the US will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!"

A source close to the pair said after the president's refusal: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the US government for security resources."
