The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle's father Thomas Markle has opened up about the birth of his grandchild after Meghan gave birth to her first baby, a baby boy, with Prince Harry.

The 74-year-old was snubbed in the announcement from the royalty which mentioned Meghan Markle's mother Doria Ragland. Thomas has been keeping a low profile recently and hoped that the child would serve the crown with "grace, dignity, and honor."

Thomas released a statement saying, "I'm delighted to hear that mother and child are doing well. I am proud that my new grandson is born into the British royal family and I am sure that he will grow up to serve the crown and the people of Britain with grace, dignity, and honor."

"GOD bless the child and I wish him health and happiness, and my congratulations to my lovely daughter Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry, and GOD save the Queen," she continued.

Thomas has kept away from the public eye as his feud with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle rocked headlines after the pair got married in Windsor last year.

The official announcement from the palace did not mention Thomas Markle who is presently at home in New Mexico though it did mention Meghan's mother. The statement from Buckingham Palace read, "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex was safely delivered of a son at 0526hrs. The baby weighs 7lbs 3oz. The Duke of Sussex was present for the birth. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news."

"The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well," the statement continued.
