Meghan Markle put part of her wardrobe into storage in Canada before moving into Nottingham Cottage in Kensington Palace with Prince Harry, indicating she may have always been planning to move back to the country, it has been claimed.

Even as the royal family and Buckingham Palace are still reeling following the Sussexes' announcement that they would be stepping down from their royal duties, reports suggest such a move may have in the works all along. While it was initially believed that Meghan had only put her furniture into storage before moving into Kensington Palace in November 2017 following her engagement to Prince Harry, with the rest of her belongings making their way to the UK, new snaps indicate otherwise.

A source said the Duchess of Sussex recently had clothes shipped from Toronto -- where she had been staying during the filming of her hit legal drama 'Suits' -- to the $14 million mansion where she and Harry had stayed over the Christmas break in Vancouver. The claims were seemingly confirmed when Meghan was spotted sporting a $695 army green down coat from Canadian label Soia & Kyo to pick up Pilates instructor pal Heather Dorak from Victoria International Airport.

The coat is from Meghan's time on 'Suits,' and she was pictured wearing the same on the show's sets in November 2017, weeks before she quit the show and acting. She was also spotted earlier in a cable-knit jumper by The Row that she had worn on-screen as Rachel Zane. Besides those two items of clothing, she is also said to have left behind a black cashmere beanie and a Barbour Epler coat.

"While it was known the Duchess put her furniture into storage, it was said at the time that she took all her personal items with her," said Jamie Samhan, Entertainment Tonight's Canada's online editor.

"It also begs the question, did Meghan always plan on returning to North America in some capacity?" he continued. "Many have raised doubts around the step down of being senior royals and that both Prince Harry and Meghan had been planning this for some time. The two did give the full royal life a go, but perhaps they always considered having a Canadian abode."
