After their extended break from royal duties, which they spent in Canada, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returned to London and chose a trip to Canada House as their first pubic appearance of 2020. They wanted to thank Canadians for the “hospitality and support” they had received while visiting Vancouver Island.

For the occasion, the Duchess of Sussex donned a tan Reiss coat, brown turtleneck and a slip skirt, while her husband wore a blue suit. Choosing to keep her ensemble as neutral and simple as possible, Meghan let the couple's actions make headlines instead.

The Duke and Duchess made a private visit to see the Hubb Community Kitchen in west London before dropping by at Canada House as Meghan wanted to interact with the women working there. The mother-of-one even tried her hand at some of the cooking processes while speaking to the staff at the kitchen.

As they arrived at Canada House, staffers from the High Commission were present outside the building to greet the couple. The duo asked the greeters whether they had a good holiday and Meghan described Vancouver as “beautiful.”

Canadian High Commissioner to the U.K., Janice Charette, described the royal couple’s visit on Tuesday as a “chance to catch up, hear a bit about their visit to Canada and their holidays in Canada, and their impressions.”

She told Town and Country magazine that she discussed with them “what they see in terms of their priorities for the next year" adding that “there’s a lot of areas where they have interests which are also priorities for Canada.”

Meghan has advocated for issues such as gender equality and gender empowerment, homelessness, mental health and youth engagement in the past, which Charette said “will be some opportunities for us to think about Canada House and the Sussexes doing some interesting work together”.

“The fact that they were able to go to Canada to enjoy the holiday season with friends and family and basically to have privacy and be undisturbed and to be able to enjoy peace and tranquility and the beautiful country, I couldn’t be happier,” she added.
