Meghan branded 'ruthless social climber' by ex-pal Piers Morgan: 'This is all about becoming a bigger mega-star'
'Along with Trump, Brexit and coronavirus, the Sussexes have made themselves one of the biggest news stories in the last 3 years and they don’t want to be left alone,' Morgan said
The Duchess of Sussex has been branded as a 'ruthless social climber' by Piers Morgan. The English broadcaster has been a very vocal critic of Meghan Markle for many years even though the two had a brief friendship. However, Morgan did not seem to hold anything back as he slammed Meghan and called her a 'ruthless social climber' while speaking to Express.
Morgan shared that he is of the opinion that Meghan is steering Harry's current path. "This is all about Meghan Markle becoming a bigger mega-star. That has always been her plan, I am sure of it. When I was still friends with her she was pretty open about her ambition," Morgan revealed.
"The way she treats friends and family is pretty indicative of a ruthless social climber who will stop at nothing to get where she wants to get to and I'm sure she thinks the sky is her limit. She’s landed her Prince and she’s wrestled him away from his family," he added.
He shared how he thinks that Meghan has a "ruthlessly ambitious streak" which he has seen during their quickly fizzled out friendship. He spoke about how Meghan had reached out to him many years ago leading to the pair meeting up over drinks while she had questioned him for advice on handling media and other things.
He shared how he believed that their relationship was a friendship but that she soon ditched him and moved on. "I can certainly say that after personal experience when she wanted my advice on handling the media and stuff she can turn on the charm when it suits her but the moment you are of no use to her you’re gone," Morgan said.
He was asked why he seems 'obsessed' with Meghan to which he said that he comments on Meghan and her husband Prince Harry as they are a big news story. "I think along with Donald Trump, Brexit and coronavirus, the Sussexes have made themselves one of the biggest news stories in the last three years and they don’t want to be left alone," he pointed out.
"So I don’t really understand the criticism; I’m a columnist, I’m on TV every morning, I’m on Twitter all the time, obviously they are the fourth biggest story of the past three years so obviously I’m going to be commenting about it," Morgan added. "And because of my own knowledge about Meghan Markle and previous, what I assumed was, friendship has given me a bit of an insight into what she is like."
"I don’t have any obsession with her," he said. "I don’t think my criticisms of her are anything other than genuinely valid criticisms of a couple who just want to have their royal cake and eat it." Morgan has also criticized the couple very much in his new book which is titled 'Wake Up'.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had made the shocking decision to quit the royal family earlier this year in order to become financially independent. The couple has relocated to the US along with their toddler son, Archie.
