A new book has claimed that Meghan Markle “embarrassed” Prince Harry and left Princess Eugenie and her mother Sarah Ferguson "furious" as she chose Eugenie’s wedding day to disclose her pregnancy. The book ‘Royals At War’ by investigative journalists Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett said that Meghan told the royal family that she was pregnant with her first child while celebrating Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's nuptials on October 12, 2018.

However, Meghan's announcement did not go down well with Harry or the rest of the royal family, the book claimed. “Meghan put her foot in it when she decided that it would be the ideal moment to announce that she and Harry were expecting their first child. This was a huge social gaffe, even if you were not a Royal – stealing the limelight from Eugenie, who was furious, as was her mother, Sarah,” the authors wrote as reported by The Mirror.

The Sussexes revealed to the world on October 15, 2018, on the eve of their royal tour of Australia and New Zealand that they were expecting their first child. Archie was born on May 6, 2019, and the royals, including the Queen, and Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, showered the pair with congratulatory messages.

However, in 2018, Meghan’s reported announcement at the wedding upset the family, including Eugenie. US website Radar Online claimed at the time that the revelation had left the bride angry. “Eugenie disappeared for a while after Harry and Meghan told the Royal Family the news. Any bride would have had their nose put out of joint by something like that,” an insider said.

At the time, several fans also criticized Meghna and Harry for the public announcement of the baby’s arrival on October 15 that was so close to Eugenie's wedding. "If Harry and Meghan did actually tell the Royal Family about their baby at Eugenie’s wedding on Friday, that’s pretty shady,” one Twitter user commented. “Meghan couldn’t let Eugenie be center of attention for long could she,” another one wrote, while a third added: “thunder stealer."

The rumor of bad feeling went strong when Eugenie's mother, Sarah, tweeted a picture of her royal wedding outfit at the exact moment Meghan and Harry announced they were having a baby. The Duchess of York thanked the designer for the outfit in her post. It was also her 59th birthday that day. Sarah then shared three further messages saying how “proud” she was of her daughter and son-in-law Jack. But she did not mention Harry and Meghan in her posts, The Daily Mail reported.

Meanwhile, an insider had previously told BAZAAR.com that Meghan and Harry did not disclose the pregnancy to their family at the wedding. The source also said that the royal family, including the Queen and Prince Philip, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, and Eugenie and Jack all knew about Meghan's pregnancy before the wedding. But the wedding day was the first time, they congratulated the former ‘Suits’ star and Harry. Another source revealed at the time that the family members “are delighted for the couple."
