LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Meg Ryan is making her return to the silver screen as she juggles multiple roles. No, she’s only playing Willa in the flick, but her other roles include direction and writing.

A leading actress of her time, Meg came up with the idea of 'What Happens Later' during the pandemic.

“It came to me during lockdown,” she shared. “The essence of it is these two people who are stuck together. I just love that idea that we're held in a space, even if it feels conflicted, maybe for reasons that heal them.”

Meg takes multiple roles for her next 'What Happens Later'

The 61-year-old told Interview magazine that the easiest part of this project was acting.

“Truly, the easiest part was acting in it. I want to direct again just so I can sit in the chair, because I’m sure there’s a lot of things I missed.”

The super-talented Meg added, “I hadn’t done a role in a really long time, but it was fun with David.”

“A lot of it was done in two shots. I’m proud of that. I set up everything beforehand so that once we were there, it was just David and I trying to tell the truth.”

Shooting within a tight budget

She also touched upon the $3 million budget on which the movie was completed. “We had to do it really quickly. A lot of those extras weren’t even ours, they were real people,” Meg shared.

“We went back in post and made everybody the same palette. There’s a lot of stuff you can do digitally now, thank god.”

Talking about her surprise long break from the spotlight, Meg said, “I took a giant break because I felt like there's just so many other parts of my experience as a human being I wanted to develop.”

Coming to her love life, the single mother-of-two has quite a liking for Kevin Costner.

According to sources, "She's always had a soft spot for Kevin," Radar Online reported.

"Whenever they'd run into each other at showbiz events through the years, there was a major spark," an insider added.

The ‘When Harry Met Sally’ star is still counting on the “spark,” they shared and is patiently waiting for the drama around his divorce to settle down. The two have never played lead roles in a flick yet.

'What Happens Later' will be released on Friday, November 3.
