Most of the second to the last episode of 'Mayor of Kingstown' throws light on the happenings behind prison walls. Given that Jeremy Renner and Emma Laird have comparatively less screen time as compared to the previous episodes, their parts are beyond spectacular.

With all that Iris (Emma Laird) is going through, Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) decides to protect her from the harsh and torturous world by actually taking care of her. As viewers, we see a completely new and soft side to McLusky since doing what he does on the work front, he doesn't have time to be emotional.

'Mayor of Kingstown' Episode 8: Dark details will leave you shocked as Mike saves Iris

That being said, it seems like Iris is takena back by his kindness, as he fixes up breakfast for her, all at a house in the middle of nowhere in the woods. It goes without saying that both Iris and Mike are comfortable with silences, and are okay with not doing anything together. Although Iris clearly needs to see a doctor, they decide against it since a thorough checkup will eventually bring up a gazillion questions (as seen in the previous episode).

That being said, Mike decides to take up the responsibility of caring for Iris. He goes all out with breakfast too, making a plate of German pancakes for her! When she says that she can't eat in front of him, he respects her, saying he'll wait outside. She walks outside to him saying, "I'll face this fear". Iris later asks Mike for a favor and he said he'll comply. The very next scene shows Iris sobbing her heart out, wrapped in Mike's arms. She wails as Mike lets her and she soon falls asleep after tiring herself out.

What's the last episode of the series going to look like for the two? We'll have to wait and watch to know more!

Stay tuned for the season finale of 'Mayor of Kingstown' next Sunday, at 3 am ET, on Paramount+.
