Matthew Perry, who is best known for his portrayal of Chandler Bing in the NBC sitcom 'FRIENDS', died by apparently drowning in the jacuzzi of his Los Angeles home on Saturday, October 28. After the success of his memoir 'Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing' that released in November, 2022, Perry led a relatively quiet life in 2023. The star even went on an Instagram hiatus for six months. His last post before October was in April. Before his death, the '17 Again' star made his Instagram comeback on October 11, only to complain about the noise generated by leaf blower by quipping in a Chandler-esque way, "Why can Elon Musk send a woman to the moon and not be able to invent a silent leaf blower?"

In a poignant post, Matthew Perry shared a photo of him spending some happy moments with his father John Perry where the father-son duo could be seen bonding over some beverages. He captioned the post writing, "Here is me, and my father John, both holding a beverage."

Matthew Perry made a series of Instagram posts involving symbols of Batman, where he repeatedly referred to himself as 'Mattman'. Fans grew concerned even before his death as he was continuously posting Bat signals and even installed the iconic symbol at the bottom of his pool. Per Daily Mail, he identified with 'Batman' tremendously and told GQ once, "I am Batman. Well, he's a rich loner." He even captioned one of his posts, "Sleep well everybody, I've got the city tonight -Mattman."

Matthew Perry was last seen in public on October 21 when he enjoyed a meal at the celebrity favorite The Apple Pan restaurant in Los Angeles, California. The restaurant told PEOPLE, "He was a good guy, very nice,” before adding, "It was a busy day, but people weren’t really looking at him.”

The 'Fools Rush In' star, who was an ardent Pickleball player, played the sport even on the day of his demise. Perry's friend and Pickleball coach Matt Manasse said to PEOPLE that on Saturday "he’d been doing really well on court, which wasn’t a surprise.” Perry also shared a post on October 22 where the words 'Batman plays Pickleball' can be seen.

Fans noticed Matthew Perry's obsession with the fictional superhero Batman during his final days as he even posted a Halloween-themed pumpkin with a Bat sign cutout. He posted the picture on October 23 with the caption, "Do you know what I mean?" In another post on the same day, he posted a short clip of the moon with an alarming caption, "Do you understand what I'm trying to tell you? - I'm Mattman."

Matthew Perry was unusually 'fatigued' in week leading up to his death

Perry was reportedly feeling "fatigued" in the last week he was alive, signalling at some underlying health issue. TV presenter Billy Bush said, "[Pickleball] regulated his days," before adding, "I spoke to the woman he played with this morning and every morning. She is in shock, adored Matt… she said he had been fatigued today and over the past week. A little more than usual."

Matthew Perry's fans were horrified to realize that the Emmy winning actor's last post was from the same pool where he apparently drowned. On October 23, he had posted the image with the caption, "Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I'm Mattman."
