The solemn service concluded with a touching rendition of Peter Gabriel's song 'Don't Give Up.'
The song's poignant lyrics, which include the lines, "No fight left or so it seems, I am a man whose dreams have all deserted, I've changed my face, I've changed my name, But no one wants you when you lose," resonated deeply as a tribute to Perry and the enduring impact he had on those who loved and admired him.
Following the service, Perry was laid to rest in a dark wooden coffin in a private family-only ceremony.
Outside the church, a gathering of mourners dressed in somber black attire stood together, offering mutual support and comfort through embraces.
It is uncertain whether a more public celebration of his life will be held at a later date, leaving that decision open to future arrangements.
