José once penned down a letter to his squad according to a feature in Guardian. "From here each practice, each game, each minute of your social life must center on the aim of being champions," Mourinho wrote. "First-teamer will not be a correct word. I need all of you. You need each other. We are a TEAM." Not just that, he also spelled out an equation at the end of the letter: "Motivation + Ambition + Team + Spirit = SUCCESS."
Devoted to both work and family, the 57-year-old once said his family is at the center of his life. He met Matilde Faria while they were both teenagers in Setubal. Nicknamed Tami, she was his childhood sweetheart and the two decided to get hitched in 1989. Married to his wife for over 30 years now, he has often emphasized on his commitment to be a good father. The couple is blessed with two children — daughter Matilde and son José Mário Jr who after struggling with ankle injury canceled his contract with Fulham by mutual consent.
