Mark Consuelos leaves wife Kelly Ripa red-faced after asking her if she would get that 'big butt thing'
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos got into an awkward conversation regarding butt implants during the 'Live With Kelly and Mark' as the actor questioned his wife about getting a 'big butt thing.'
Mark, 52, took over as co-host of the morning show alongside Kelly, also 52 after Ryan Seacrest stepped down earlier this month. However, when they brought up plastic surgery, things on the show became a little uncomfortable. The actor decided to ask his wife of 27 years if she would ever contemplate getting implants in her rear after reviewing a recent article that claimed butt lift reversals were growing in trend.

'Would you do the big butt thing?'
When Ripa, 52, mentioned the prevalence of butt implants, Consuelos, 52, asked his wife, "Would you do something like that?" "Would you do the big butt thing?" The inquiry startled Kelly, who turned to her husband and said, "You tell me," to which he tremblingly reacted, "I don't know." "I feel like there are so many other places I'd rather put implants in if I had the time and energy," Kelly replied.
'I just agreed because she's my wife'
When Mark stated that he "agreed" with her, a lot of audience members erupted in loud gasps, misinterpreting his words as a jab. The father of three said it wasn't what he meant despite an unexpected 'ooh' from the live crowd. "I mean, I don't agree that you should do that," he quickly said to his wife, before telling the audience, "Stop it, I did not say anything... I just agreed because she's my wife." Gladly, Kelly said, "Right, you agree with me no matter what," making it plain that she understood what Mark meant and wasn't annoyed at him.
Kelly Ripa opens up about using Botox
Kelly has previously been candid about using Botox, telling Elle in 2013 that she receives injections on her face and armpits to stop perspiring on camera. "Every seven months or so my eyelid skin rests on my eyelashes. So I feel like it makes my makeup artist's life easier," she told at the time. "It makes my eyes look a little more open on TV, which is where I happen to work right now." She expressed her hope that being 'open and honest' about the cosmetic modifications might assist those who were battling with aging in a 2022 interview with People. "I've always talked about it openly and honestly because I thought, really honestly, at 40 years old that I was the only person aging and I couldn't figure out why," she detailed.
Since Mark joined the show on April 17, the pair, who got married in 1996, has received a ton of negative feedback from viewers. While some viewers criticized the couple's "fake banter," calling it "cringe," "phony," and "inauthentic," others have criticized the duo for talking about "mundane things" rather than "real social and news issues."
