Los Angeles, California (Release): Analysis of Google Trends search data reveals that online searches for 'silver outfit' exploded 156 per cent worldwide after celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Julia Fox, Bella Thorne, Mariah Carey, Julia Garner, Kate Beckinsale, America Ferrera, Skai Jackson, Mariska Hargitay and many more all making a silver statement at the Golden Globes.
According to a study by fashion retailer Boohoo, worldwide Google searches skyrocketed by over 182 per cent for 'sparkly dress' in the past five years. Mariska Hargitay is the latest celebrity to wear the on-trend metallic color in a statement sparkly silver gown to Law & Order SVU's 25th Anniversary celebration.
The metallic trend dominated the Golden Globe red carpet, with many celebrities flocking to wear the color. Celebrities include America Ferrera in a silver Dolce & Gabbana dress with bold embellishments, Julia Garner in a sparkly silver dress from Gucci, Naomi Watts in a one-shoulder silver Fendi dress, Elizabeth Debicki in a shining silver Dior couture gown, Skai Jackson in a silver long Jenny Packham dress, Kate Beckinsale in an extra-long tulle romper and JaNae Collins in a long sleeve silver gown.
Taylor Swift was spotted on New Year's Eve with Travis Kelce wearing a sparkly silver Cleo Peppiatt mini dress, paired with a silver celestial-theme hair accessory. The singer also donned a similar outfit on her birthday, December 13, with another Cleo Peppiatt black fitted sparkly dress featuring celestial sky, moon, and stars. The outfit was paired with a stand-out sparkly silver bag. Silver bags and dresses are at their highest fashion point in five years, with a global search increase for 'silver dress' rising 89 per cent, 'silver bag' by 105 per cent and 'sparkly dresses' skyrocketing by 182 per cent. 'Silver sparkle dress' searches have exploded by 183 per cent over the past 10 years, a monumental spike in people Googling for silver statement outfits.
For a bolder look, pair silver with a vibrant color. Bella Thorne made a loud statement with the trending color as she celebrated New Year's in Los Angeles. Thorne decided to wear her mini silver mirror dress differently, pairing it with bright red tights and statement glitter eyeshadow. The hashtag #glittereyeshadow has gained 448.7 million views on TikTok. 'Silver mini dress' has seen a 69 per cent increase over the past 10 years. Bright red tights are social media's latest must-have accessory, amassing 22.6 million views on TikTok, including videos on how to style and wear them, to skyrocketing search results on Pinterest by 488 per cent over the past year.
Silver can also be worn in a show-stopping two-piece outfit, as Julia Fox demonstrated as she attended Nicki Minaj's New Year's Eve show in Miami. Fox wore a metallic star skirt and top with slits paired with a silver bag, a top hat, and her signature cat-eye liner. 'Silver outfit' has seen a search increase of 156 per cent over the past five years, and the hashtag #silveroutfit has gained 25.7 million views on TikTok. Other big names hopping on the statement silver trend include Mariah Carey, Melanie Trump and Rita Ora.
