Mariah Carey rocks black dress and fur coat as ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ tops Billboard chart
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Mariah Carey was recently seen oozing elegance with a sparkle of hotness outside Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, December 13. The 52-year-old singer was reportedly spotted in a black semi-sheer dress and to amp up her look, she added a white fur coat along with big sunglasses.
The beautiful sighting happened after Carey performed at the Madison Square Garden as her ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ is soaring high on the Billboard chart, The Daily Mail reported. She was also seen wearing her charming, big smile as photographers tried to capture her. To complete her look, the hitmaker chose a pair of black high platform heels while keeping her blonde hair open with soft curls. She also adorned her lips with a shiny pink color.

As per reports, Carey’s 1994 number went to the number one spot in the US soon after ruling the UK charts. The publication stated that the song “now has nine total weeks at the number one spot on the Hot 100, and has become the first song to have led at number one at four different times.” The first time, it ranked at the top in 2019 before making it again in 2020, then in 2021 and also this year. “The festive song also has the longest span from a song’s first week at number one on the Hot 100 to three years, from December 2019 to December 2022,” the Daily Mail added.
A 2019 report by Time explained the reason behind it as it noted, “There are multiple factors to the song’s popularity, the most obvious of which are the powerhouse vocals of the beloved elusive chanteuse. But the savvy songwriting and themes of the song have played an integral role in the success of the track as well.”
At the time, beauty writer Tynan Sinks had also hailed Carey as he said, “This song is a testament to something that Mariah Carey is still undervalued for: Her songwriting. Mariah Carey wrote this song, dude. Isn’t that crazy? It’s such a classic that people think it’s a cover of something else, but it’s a Mariah Carey original, baby. She just sat down one day and literally invented Christmas.”
And, Andrew Mall, assistant professor of music at Northeastern University, had added, “It’s not a religious song. She talks about Christmas, but no religious beliefs. It’s actually a love song. Anyone can inhabit those lyrics; the lover is not named, the lover is not gendered, so anyone can put themselves in that position as needing someone to love at the holidays. It’s a secular love song and not a religious Christmas carol. The song came out in 1994, her first Christmas album; I think when people talk about nostalgia for this album, they talk about nostalgia for the holidays. I think that’s part of that, but I also think it’s part of a larger nostalgia for music from the ‘90s.”
