Sweet as honey and cutthroat when she needs to be Mamamoo’s leader, Solar has finally made a solo comeback and it has become the talk of the town due to its global charting. Solar released her second mini-album, ‘容: FACE’, also known as 'Yong: Face' or ‘Dragon: Face’, on March 16 and if her following was not enough proof, the charts reveal her tremendous success. Solar topped international charts in more than 20 regions, claiming the throne to global popularity.

With her 2022 comeback, Solar proved her sweet charm as she took over multiple charts with the album as well as its lead single, ‘Honey’, proving her potential as a global artist. ‘Honey’ sees Solar unveil a kitsch expression that shows how sweet temptations are treats to artists like herself. In her story, Solar proves how introspective the entire album is as the song talks about honeybees bringing honey to the queen bee that is Solar in this case.

Solar tops charts with ‘容: FACE’

On March 18, it was reported that Solar’s ‘容: FACE’ topped the iTunes album charts in 20 countries and regions around the world, including Brazil, Colombia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Philippines, Mexico, and Singapore, right after its release. The title track ‘Honey’ also topped the iTunes ‘Top Song Charts’ in five countries and regions, including Costa Rica, Malaysia, and Singapore.



 

While the album from Solar has been doing well internationally, it has not left domestic charts far behind as she charts on regional platforms like Bugs and MelOn. The music video for ‘Honey’ has officially surpassed 7 million views on YouTube within two days of its release. On the other hand, the single from Solar's new album also ranks at Number 27 on Bugs after having climbed 44 spots on the chart. The song is also currently Number 31 on MelOn’s ‘Latest Hits’ chart.



 

‘Honey’ is currently at Number 3 on the Top 20 K-pop Songs on the US iTunes Song Chart while Solar is also enjoying success on the Daily MelOn Artist Chart by ranking at Number 3 in the Female Solo Artist Chart as well as at Number 13 on the OverAll Kpop Artist Chart.



 

The meaning behind Solar’s new comeback

The mini-album ‘容: FACE’ was released with the purpose of telling Solar's personal story while its name features the Chinese character ‘容 (which means Dragon) aka Yong, in line with Solar’s birth name. With her own name and face on its title, the songs on the album reveal her colorful charms, her natural appearance as well as the various emotions that decorate her K-pop journey.
