Who is Beheshta Arghand? Female Afghan TV anchor interviews Taliban official on live TV
Nearly a decade ago, a teenage Malala was shot in the head by Taliban terrorists, for standing up for girls' education in her hometown in Pakistan's Swat Valley. She gained global attention overnight and was immediately escorted to the UK for treatment, where her family settled soon afterward. She completed her school education in Britain and attended Oxford University to pursue her graduation.
After being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, Malala has been a leading advocate for girls' education across the world. She even started her own international foundation to work for the cause at grassroots levels across continents.
Who is Malala's husband Asser Malik?
It is not clearly known when Malala and Asser Malik started seeing each other, but he had posted a photo of them together on her birthday in July this year. "Happy Birthday to the most amazing @Malala," he simply wrote in his birthday wish.
Asser Malik, a Pakistani human rights activist, was declared the General Manager of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2020. Though there are doubts regarding his exact age, 18LiveNews reported that he was born in 1990 in Lahore, Pakistan. He attended the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) to attain a degree in economics and political science. His Instagram profile, where he has over 7,600 followers, shows him posing with the bigwigs of the Pakistan cricket team quite often.
Barely a few months ago, Malala had earlier expressed her doubts in the concept of marriage during an interview with Vogue. In June 2021, she told the magazine, "I still don’t understand why people have to get married. If you want to have a person in your life, why do you have to sign marriage papers, why can’t it just be a partnership?"
In 2020, Malala's father Ziauddin Yousafzai also shared his thoughts on Malala's marriage and future life. "In our community, when a girl reaches 23, she is usually married by now and has little say in the matter. To me, tribe or caste does not matter at all. I think the most important thing is that this is her (Malala's) life. I'm the kind of father who believes in their children's education and freedom. She has the right to choose her own partner or nobody at all, it's up to her," said the 51-year-old educator.
"The only thing I would say is that she should go for someone who respects her values, her freedom and her independence. She would be a better judge of that than me, I believe in her wisdom," he added. It can be assumed that Malala found her perfect partner in Asser Malik and we extend our wishes to the couple for a happy life together.
