LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: On September 28, 2023, YouTuber Ludwig Ahgren simply known as Ludwig took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to announce the cancelation of this year's Mogul Chessboxing event.

As the name implies, 'Chessboxing' seamlessly integrates both chess and boxing, requiring participants to alternate between rapid-fire rounds of each sport.

The winner is declared when one of the competitors secures victory in at least one of the sports."

Ludwig cancels Mogul Chessboxing 2023

Ludwig unveiled his inaugural Mogul Chessboxing event in 2022, where influencers of all stripes played Super Smash Bros. and chess before putting on boxing gloves and squaring off with an opponent.

According to Dexerto, the event emerged as the most-watched tournament for Super Smash Bros. during its live broadcast, showcasing its widespread popularity among fans worldwide.

On September 28, the YouTuber took to X and made a post that garnered over 2.5 million views at the time of writing. In his post, Ludwig expressed feeling "super bummed" as he made the announcement.

He wrote, "im super bummed to announce that chessboxing will not be happening this year, this is definitely the biggest failure of my career but has motivated me to be the best creator i can be in 2024."



 

The streamer went into detail about why the event wasn't happening, citing concerns about the complexities of event sanctioning and expressing worries about the safety of the competitors.

Soon after the post, Ludwig's followers started commenting about how much they adored the legendary artist.
