'Lucifer' Season 6 Episode 8: Lucifer sacrifices himself while proving love for Rory
Spoilers for 'Lucifer' Season 6
Apart from saving the world from collapsing, the biggest plotline in the final season of ‘Lucifer’ is about the main protagonist meeting his daughter that he never knew of. In one of the earlier episodes, viewers get to know that Rory (Brianna Hildebrand) is actually a daughter of Lucifer and Chloe from the future who has time-traveled to hurt his father for abandoning her.
Lucifer tries to mend his relationship with Rory, but she is not interested because she knows that it can’t be stopped and Lucifer is destined to leave them. In episode 8, as the entire team is trying to figure out how Lucifer’s wings have stopped operating, we get to know that Linda (Rachael Harris) has been writing a book on Lucifer by taking inspiration from the observations made during the sessions. But the ending is missing, so while she goes back to her office to find the end part, a conversation strikes up between Chloe and Rory. Chloe is defending Lucifer and Rory can’t believe that she always does that.

Rory believes that she can’t trust him because she doesn’t even care about anyone’s feelings and he only cared about her mother (Chloe) when he got shot by a bullet. Lucifer says she’s right and gets back to one of the cabinets to take out a loaded gun. He hands the gun to Rory and says he’s going to prove his love toward her now. He stands in front of Rory and commands her to shoot him. Chloe says no, but Rory wants to shoot him.
She pulls the trigger and the bullet hits Lucifer's right leg. Rory thinks that it was all a sham, but gets really shocked when she sees that her father is actually bleeding and hurting. Chloe says that no one is ever doing that again. Rory is sad that she did that and said that it worked. To which, Lucifer politely replied, “Of course, it worked. You are my daughter and I love you.”
Linda brings the concluding part and it’s really superficial. However, when Lucifer tells her that he self-actualized vulnerability to prove a point, she realizes that he is now ready to become a god and his wings are again operational.
So, Rory gets an idea now that he loved her mother so very much and he absolutely loves her as well. The episode was all about how the family gets finally together and Rory gets to know that something drastic must have happened that Lucifer went away from them. The cat is not out of the bag but let us hope that we get a happy ending after all.
‘Lucifer’ Season 6 is currently streaming on Netflix.
