Why did Shaina reject Kyle on 'Love is Blind' Season 2? Here's the shocking TRUTH

Their differences in religious beliefs might not be the only reason why Shaina dumped Kyle on 'Love is Blind', read on to know more
UPDATED FEB 11, 2022

While sharing similar values and core beliefs can be great for couples in a relationship, it doesn't mean that those with opposing views can't be in a happy and healthy relationship. Netflix's blind dating show 'Love is Blind' Season 2 is back with 30 singles ready to find their love in an unconventional manner. Since the singles interact with each other via pods, the physical attraction aspect is safely removed from the equation giving the opportunity for the singles to base their relationship on an emotional bond.

For 32-year-old Shaina Hurley, who takes great pride in her looks, this social experiment was a real eye-opener. From the get-go, she was attracted to Nick Thompson and Shayne Jansen. But when Nick proposed to Danielle Ruhl, she had no choice but to focus on Shayne. Unfortunately for her Shayne too broke her heart by picking Natalie Lee as his fiancee. But all hope wasn't lost for the beautiful hairstylist as she had another suitor- Kyle Abrams eyeing her. Things were moving smoothly between Shaina and Kyle until the topic of religious beliefs popped up during an interaction.

Why did Shaina dump Kyle?

During their conversation, Shaina discovered that Kyle was an atheist, and was taken aback on learning that. The couple's banter also revealed that Shaina, who is a devout Christian, didn't believe in evolution and she went on to question Kyle's beliefs. Even though Kyle tried to assure her that their religious beliefs wouldn't cause any issues in their relationship, she found it hard to believe. Despite her hesitation when Kyle proposed to her with his mother's engagement ring, she immediately agreed, but soon found herself second-guessing her decision.

But things got worse when they arrived in Mexico for the couples retreat. Shaina didn't want to spend the night with Kyle, so she insisted that they sleep separately. Later that night she snuck out of the resort and left Kyle alone at the retreat. But Kyle wasn't ready to give up on Shaina so he flew back to Chicago and tried convincing her that their relationship would be just fine despite the differences in their religious beliefs. This is when Shaina revealed that she wasn't as attracted to Kyle as she was to Shayne. Since she still had feelings for Shayne, she wanted to explore it so she decided to end things with Kyle.

While fans felt that Shaina made the right decision to walk away from Kyle due to their differences, they however, called her out for not believing in evolution theory. A fan commented on the show's Instagram page, "I’m a Christian that believes in science, Big Bang theory, and evolution come on girl." Another fan wrote, "I spent too much time in catholic education; and I still believe more in evolution than in the Bible." "I don’t get people who don’t believe in evolution. You can be religious and still believe in science and evolution, so why are some people taught that you can only trust one?" wondered a fan.

Another fan shared, "God isn’t real and I hope that dude finds someone else LMAOO wow." "It's good that they can have that chat, but they should not be together," seconded a fan. "They’ll NEVER work it out they can never be together with such opposing stances. One is widely accepted “make believe” and one is fact whether you believe in it or not 😄," pointed out a fan. "She doesn’t come off very smart. Hope they didn’t end up together," added a fan.

'Love is Blind' Season 2 is available for streaming on Netflix.
