LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The investigation into Anne Heche’s deadly car crash has come to an end after the actress died due to her serious injuries on August 12. Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed the big news over the weekend. The latest comes after the officials earlier obtained a warrant for a blood test on the day of the crash.
 
The cops were investigating what role alcohol or drugs may have played in the horrific accident. The ‘Donnie Brasco’ star on August 5 crashed her blue Mini Cooper into a home in the 1700 block of Walgrove Avenue in Mar Vista, Los Angeles residence. The actress was being investigated for a felony DUI.

LAPD ends investigation into Anne Heche's fatal car crash

In an official statement to People magazine, LAPD stated, “As of today, there will be no further investigative efforts made in this case” adding, “Any information or records that have been requested prior to this turn of events will still be collected as they arrive as a matter of formalities and included in the overall case.”
 
The statement concluded, “When a person suspected of a crime expires, we do not present for filing consideration." According to multiple reports, no alcohol was found in Anne Heche’s bloodstream but she was on cocaine and fentanyl at the time of the crash. Anne Heche was declared brain dead hours before the official announcement of her death was revealed on the Internet.  



 

Was Anne Heche charged after the deadly car crash?

As mentioned earlier, the cops obtained a warrant for a blood draw and Anne Heche was reportedly investigated for misdemeanor DUI and hit-and-run. According to Page Six, if found intoxicated, Heche could be charged with misdemeanor DUI hit and run. Punishments for Felony DUI in California can go up to sixteen months, two years, or three years in state prison, plus a fine of up to $1,000, mandatory interlock device for at least one year, and other potential license suspension or restriction.

Speaking of Anne Heche’s death, her oldest son, Homer Laffoon, opened up about her death saying, “My brother Atlas and I lost our Mom.” In the statement, he continued, “After six days of almost unbelievable emotional swings, I am left with a deep, wordless sadness. Hopefully, my mom is free from pain and beginning to explore what I like to imagine as her eternal freedom.” He added, Over those six days, thousands of friends, family, and fans made their hearts known to me. I am grateful for their love, as I am for the support of my Dad, Coley, and my stepmom Alexi who continue to be my rock during this time. Rest In Peace Mom, I love you, Homer”, as reported by People magazine.
