Lori Loughlin released after 2 months in jail, Internet says 'privilege' will get her 'Emmy for time in prison'
Lori Loughlin has been released from prison after serving two months on Monday, December 28. The 'Fuller House' actor had paid half a million dollars in bribes to get admission for her two daughters in Ivy league colleges. For this, she was held in the prison in Dublin, California, where she had been serving her sentence for playing a role in the college admissions bribery scheme according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. On the other hand, her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, is serving his five-month-long sentence in Lompoc near Santa Barbara, California.
According to a report in AP, Giannulli played a more active role in the bribery scandal. He is scheduled to be released on April 17. It was in May 2019 that the couple had admitted to bribing $500,000 to get their two daughters admitted into the University of Southern California as crew members despite the two of them not being rowers. The scandal also highlighted the extent to which wealthy parents would go to get admissions for their children in Ivy League colleges, and this included faking athletic credentials or even rigging test scores.
The couple's daughter Olivia Jade spoke at the Red Table Talk and said, "We messed up. I just want a second chance to be like, ‘I recognize I messed up.’ And for so long I wasn’t able to talk about this because of the legalities behind it." After hearing the news of Loughlin's release, Twitter has no pity for the actor who famously portrayed the role of Aunt Becky in 'Fuller House'.
In fact, one Twitter user wrote, "So when White actresses commit crimes they get new shows, pilots, etc. Lori Loughlin ...I assume, will get an Emmy for her time in prison. Hmmmm...oh to be White, blond, and privileged! No thanks I would rather be bold, Black, and dignified! #onlyinamerikkka." This tweet has since gone viral and there have been responses to this from many Twitter users. One user tweeted, "To think there are ppl out there working hard to even be considered to get into schools, I can’t even stand looking at a pic of her, her daughters, or her husband!"

Another Twitter user wrote, "I’m White and pissed over the whole thing. My kid had a 1550 sat/ 4.0 and getting into college was just rejection after rejection. I just hate that woman." Another user responded to this and said, "Damn. And your kid must have felt like they weren't good enough when really just wasn't rich enough smh." Then the first user further explained, "State schools don’t expect you to end up there with those stats. So she wasn’t even offered Honors College there. But they took her. Everything with college tiers seems in flux."

There was one user who pointed out how Loughlin would be given a role that can use her time in prison and said, "But wait for it.... She'll receive a roll in a quirky sitcom where they'll joke and laugh about her stint in prison as if it was just an experience for her to check off on her bucket list." To this another fan responded, "YES!! THIS IS THE ONE!" Another user also wrote, "I guess her 'apology' is a bonus to the privilege. Although black people been apologizing for nothing for years and still get treated less than or get the horrific treatment within this political and justice system."

Nearly 60 parents, coaches among others have been charged in the case and many are still fighting the allegations. Of the parents who have been sentenced so far in the case, the punishment ranges between a couple of weeks to nine months. Actor Felicity Huffman, one of the other celebrities who were charged in the case, served nearly two weeks in prison in 2018 for bribing an admissions consultant with $15,000 to have a proctor correct her daughter’s SAT answers.
