Lina Sardar Khil mysteriously disappeared in December while she was playing at the playground of her parents' San Antonio apartment. The three-year-old's parents have declared a reward of $170K for anyone who has information about Lina's whereabouts. The money contribution has come not directly from Lina's parents but from the Islamic Center of San Antonio. The organization has added $120K to the $50K that had been offered by San Antonio Crime Stoppers.

The Muslim community in San Antonio has been heavily shaken by the little girl's disappearance because hardly any progress has been made since the girl went missing in December. “It means we’re serious,” said Mike Martin of the Islamic Center in San Antonio, referring to the monetary contribution they have made in the case. “The tragedy is that children go missing every day, but this is new to us in the Muslim community. This has never happened to us in the 20 years I’ve been in San Antonio.” Of the $120,000 being offered by the Islamic Center of San Antonio, $50,000 came from the Afghan American Coalition in New York.

Lina is an immigrant from Afghanistan who came to the US with her mother and father about two years ago and has been living in San Antonio since. The girl's family has been an active part of the Muslim Community in San Antonio. After Lina's sudden and unexplained disappearance in December, an AMBER alert was issued but was discontinued by the San Antonio Police Department after no progress could be made on the missing girl's case.

On the Facebook page of the San Antonio Police Department, the police have reiterated that Lina's case remains open and under investigation. “We will continue to diligently comb through leads in hopes of locating Lina and reuniting her with her family,” said the department. The State and Federal authorities have also come forward to help the police department in their search for Lina Sardar Khil. Martin from the Muslim community said that he wishes for Lina to be found and brought back home safely and still keeps the hope of the little girl's rescue regardless of how much time has passed since her disappearance.

He also stated that the large amount of reward money has been put up in the hopes that someone who has information on the missing kid might come forward with it. Martin said that the information might help bring some closure to her parents no matter what the outcome of the case turns out to be.

Anyone with information is requested to call the San Antonio Police Department at 210-207-7660 or Crime Stoppers at 210-224-7867.
