The Depp family seems to be wrapped in one controversy after another. While we were just trying to understand the complicated Johnny Depp and Amber Heard case, Depp’s daughter was accused of racism by a Twitter user via screenshots of an Instagram post and soon #lilyrosedeppisoverparty started trending.

Lily-Rose Depp, daughter of Johnny and French musician and actor Vanessa Paradis, was caught the ire of the internet when a user alleged that one of the 21-year-old’s friends had made a racist comment. The incident caught the attention of people when an Instagram user @amaelsesser's story screenshots were tweeted. The story started with allegations that all the girls who went to Oakwood High (Rose-Depp’s alma mater) were racist and they made fun of her for not knowing English. The post hinted that "that she is filthy rich has 2 celebrity parents and has said numerous problematic and racist things (sic)". And soon the internet was flooded with posts on the topic.

However, some were not convinced with the allegations and wanted more proof. A user said, "I’m sorry but this is just Hearsay we have a legitimate proof of her friends being racist. Lily does need to be responsible and do something about that but we don’t have proof of HER being racist." One more said, "The contents of the screenshot had nothing racist in them. No use of any racial slurs or offensive terms and or making fun of black characteristics. PLEASE EDUCATE YOURSELF BEFORE SPREADING RUMOURS. IF ANYONE HAS ANY PROOF SEND ME IT,” tweeted another user.

There were other netizens who were ready to 'cancel' Rose-Depp as they believed the allegations. One user tweeted, "How you got time to be racist when your dad is fighting a crazy b***h. Where was this energy when he needed you." The internet even dragged Rose-Depp’s former boyfriend actor Timothée Chalamet into it. One of the tweets read: “Timothee chalamet has an awful taste in women." Another one said, “Timothée chalamet got a thing for racist girls i see.”

However, a lot of people also pointed out the lack of evidence in the posts as it does not name anyone directly and criticized this growing ‘cancel’ culture. "This is horrible you guys need to stop the horrible cancel culture there is absolutely no evidence proving lily-rose has done anything racist let me also remind you she has been spoted at several BLM protests," said a Twitter user.

Others also pointed out that people were misusing and doing a disservice to the movement of racism by using gifs and fancams. "Can people like not use the #lilyrosedeppisoverparty hashtag and then drop fancams and for once not try to profit off of the racism the black community experiences," tweeted a user. Soon, another Instagram post of a woman named True Whitaker (apparently Rose-Depp’s friend) started floating, where she accused @amaelsesser of bullying Whitaker but soon deleted her story. Whitaker and @amaelsesser’s Instagram DM interactions were also posted, where Whitaker has written "Lily doesn’t know you", to which the accuser replied: “I said because she’s racist and bullies others idk why you siding with a white person.”
