NO ROYAL CELEBRATION for Lilibet as she turns one during Queen's Platinum Jubilee
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, turns one on Saturday, June 4. As per reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will celebrate their little one’s special day at Windsor after they arrived in the UK for the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebration.
Normally, royal family members’ birthdays are celebrated with the issue of new pictures on public platforms but in the case of Lilibet – who was born 4 June, 2021, at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California, and named after her great-grandmother – no such things have apparently happened. It has also been said that no grand function will be held.

Royal commentator Omid Scobie, who also co-wrote ‘Finding Freedom', shared on Twitter: “#PlatinumJubilee Day 3: — The Queen to watch the Derby on TV from Windsor. — Charles and William to give separate speeches towards end of Party at Palace concert. — Harry and Meghan to spend Saturday (Lilibet’s first birthday) in Windsor ‘together privately as a family’.”
Earlier, on BBC Breakfast, Scobie said: “I think people are expecting some sort of big birthday extravagant event, that we’re going to see photographs from. From what I’m told, we shouldn’t expect anything.” He then went on to refer to the Monarch’s first reported meeting with the Sussexes’ younger one and added: “Those moments with Lilibet are very much private between them and the Queen and of course we know how much she’s been looking forward to it. They’ve been held back by a pandemic. Of course the times that Harry has been here it’s just been by himself for quite sombre occasions. And so this really was the first time.”
But according to Sarah Campbell, the BBC’s royal correspondent, Lilibet’s parents “might choose to christen” her on her birthday. Express.co.uk reported that Campbell told them that “there is ‘some speculation’ she could attend a christening.”
“Whether we’ll ever find out about it, because it will, of course, be classed as a private family event, we don’t know, but it will be interesting to watch and see what happens there,” she added.
Though no portrait of Lilibet has been released, her royal family members have wished her publicly. The official Twitter page of The Royal Family shared, “🎈Wishing Lilibet a very Happy 1st Birthday!” The Twitter account of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge tweeted: “Wishing a very happy birthday to Lilibet, turning one today! 🎈” “Wishing Lilibet a very happy 1st birthday today! 🎂” The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall added.

Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate Middleton have chosen to carry on with their royal duties amidst Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee celebration. The Cambridges along with their children – Prince George and Princess Charlotte – were seen at concert rehearsals at Cardiff Castle. The family reportedly interacted with artists and crew members there.
“The visit is one of a number members of the royal household are carrying out across the UK to mark the Jubilee. While the Cambridges visited Cardiff, Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex arrived in Northern Ireland,” The Daily Mail reported.
