Deividas Skebas: Man who murdered 9-yr-old Lilia Valutyte 'BEATEN TO A PULP' in prison attack
WAKEFIELD, WEST YORKSHIRE: A fruit picker who allegedly stabbed a nine-year-old girl to death had to be rushed to a hospital after being brutally attacked by a shank-wielding cellmate in prison. Earlier in August, Lithuanian national Deividas Skebas, 22, was charged with the murder of Lilia Valutyte, 9. Lilia was found mercilessly stabbed outside her mother's embroidery shop in Boston, Lincolnshire. She had reportedly been playing there with her five-year-old sister on July 28.
Skebas was reportedly being held at Category A Wakefield Prison, West Yorkshire. "Skebas was beaten to a pulp and also slashed with a makeshift shank weapon - likely a razor blade in a toothbrush," a source told The Sun. "People have been plotting against him for a while and on Sunday they got their chance, with a few running into his cell and ambushing him. There was one bloke who meted out the beating, aided by a couple of others who joined in and kept watch."

"He was in a very bad way and was basically left for dead," the source added. "Guards found him and acted very quickly, and he was taken to hospital by air ambulance. Skebas has had a target on his back since he arrived – and really this attack was only a matter of time. There are a lot of nasty people in Wakefield, in for a lot of awful things – but the fact the Lithuanian is accused of killing a nine-year-old made him a target. If guards had not found him, it could have been all over for him.”
Skebas was targeted last week when staffing numbers were down. Police are now investigating the attack on him. After the Lilia's murder, he was remanded in custody and moved to a normal wing at Wakefield Prison. The prison is reportedly referred to as 'Monster’s Mansion' since it holds criminals including Tia Sharp murderer Stuart Hazell and cop killer Kamel Bourgass. Skebas is reportedly due at a plea and trial preparation hearing on September 19 this year. A Prison Service spokesperson said, "A prisoner at HMP Wakefield was treated in hospital for injuries following an assault by another prisoner. We are unable to comment further while police investigate."
Skebas murdered Lilia while she was playing with her sister outside a café where Lina, her mother, was working. Footage obtained showed her playing hula-hoop with her sibling minutes before the July 28 murder, which took place at 6.20 pm. Lilia reportedly died from a stab wound to the chest.
