Lil Yachty arrested for going over 150mph in his Ferrari on Atlanta highway, Internet calls him 'Lil Speedy'
Rapper Lil Yachty has landed in fresh legal troubles after getting arrested for and charged with driving more than 150 miles per hour down an Atlanta interstate. The Atlanta-based rapper, whose real name is Miles McCollum, was pulled over by the police on September 21, 2020, on the Downtown Connector near University Avenue in Atlanta. The 'One Night' rapper was driving a white Ferrari at the time of the incident.
Earlier, in June, Yachty crashed a red 2020 Ferrari 488 on the same road. He suffered minor injuries and, luckily, no one was hurt in the accident. According to witnesses of the June incident, the 23-year-old rapper was driving at a high speed on roads wet due to rains. In the more recent incident, Yachty was taken to the Atlanta City Jail and his Ferrari was given to a friend. Moreover, he was charged with reckless driving and speeding in excess of maximum limits.
Yachty has previously posted multiple pictures on his white Ferrari on his Instagram account. For instance, two weeks ago, he posted multiple photos of himself standing in front of his white Ferrari with the caption, "don’t look 4 da s**t I’m rockin, it’s hard 2 find just like bin laden." The all-white Ferrari was a birthday gift given to the 'Peek a Boo' rapper by Quality Control CEO Pierre "Pee" Thomas.
Representatives of the rapper and Atlanta police have not yet officially made any comments about his arrest. However, according to Yachty's official Instagram, he has been released from jail, presumably on bond, as he posted a photo with the caption, "I'm not in jail."
Reactions
Twitter users were quick to react to the news of the rapper's arrest. One user, posting Yachty's mugshot from his latest arrest, wrote, "Lil Yachty jinxed himself hoping his recent mugshot didn’t appear online because here it is," while another, talking about the mugshot, said, "Damn Lil Yachty mugshot makes Yachty look depressed."
A fan of the rapper, making light of the speeding incident, jokingly tweeted, "I’m tryin to live like Lil Yachty. I wanna go fast vroom vroom. Can someone teach me how to drift for my birthday please?"

Does 150 mph look like 'Need for Speed' when you hit the nitrous?"

Previously, on September 1, 2015, Yachty, along with another man, was arrested at a mall in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, for credit card fraud. Yachty was later released after posting a bail bond of $11,000 and his records were expunged. On the music front, Lil Yachty recently dropped his fourth studio album 'Lil Boat 3' in May. He is also set to release another album titled 'End of the Summer' soon.
