Lil Uzi Vert changes pronouns to they/them, fans say ‘transphobic MFs gonna get pissed’
Lil Uzi Vert broke the Internet over the weekend after they changed their pronouns on Instagram. Making the big move on the photo-sharing app, the ‘Eternal Atake’ hitmaker updated his bio by writing their pronouns as “they/them.” The news quickly spread like wildfire on Twitter and received a mixed bag of responses.
The 26-year-old rap artist changed their pronouns merely hours after dropping a single called ‘Space Cadet’ on SoundCloud. Lil Uzi Vert was recently in the headlines when they injured a fan with a phone after they had launched it off stage during their set at Wireless Festival 2022. According to reports, Lil Uzi Vert did not intentionally hit the person in the audience. Speaking of changing pronouns, musicians Halsey and Demi Lovato had also taken the same road last year.

Lil Uzi Vert changes pronouns to they/them
Taking advantage of the Instagram feature that allows people to share their preferred pronouns, Lil Uzi Vert shared the big update with his more than 16 million fans and followers. The renowned rap star is yet to address the change in their pronouns. MEAWW will keep you posted.
Lil Uzi is, of course, not the first musician to change their pronouns. Back in March 2021, Halsey changed their pronouns to “she/they” but did not reveal the reason on social media or via an official statement. The singer, however, has been open about being bisexual. According to People magazine, Halsey, who has been outspoken about their sexuality and LGBTQ+ rights, shared in 2018, “I’m a young, bisexual woman, and I’ve spent a large part of my life trying to validate myself- to my friends, to my family, to myself- trying to prove that who I love and how I feel is not a phase; it’s not part of some confusion that’s going to change or could be manipulated.” Demi Lovato is another artist who changed their pronouns in May last year. The singer, who identifies as pansexual, changed their pronouns to they/them.
‘Transphobic MFs gonna get pissed off about this’
Social media users had a mixed response to Lil Uzi Vert changing their pronouns. “Watch people get upset about Uzi having pronouns”, said one Uzi fan as another posted, “I don’t think you can be a they/them if your one person. But respectfully would not care if I meet a person and their nice. But haven’t met nobody who says that but just I don’t get how you can be more than one person.” Another user stated, “This younger generation is so feminine.” One added, “This is great but unfortunately some people didn’t make it past 2nd grade and don’t understand pronouns so they’re gonna hate on bro.”
