Where is Lil Tay now? Fans concerned as 11-year-old rapper's first Instagram story in 2 years hints 'bad news'

She had last posted the message 'Help me' in a similar Instagram story two years ago

Child rapper Lil Tay has posted an ominous message on her Instagram story after two years of inactivity on the social media platform. Fans of the young internet star are worried about her well-being after spotting the cryptic message that simply read, "We have bad news about Tay..."

No further update was shared in the next 17 hours since the story was put up. Fans are baffled over the shocking post, speculating what might have happened with Lil Tay. "What happened to that little girl “Lil Tay”? Her IG story never updated after that post," a concerned fan tweeted.

Who is Lil Tay? 

Claire Eileen Qi Hope aka Lil Tay went viral on social media in 2018 at the age of nine years. She was known for her outrageous videos where she rapped and showed off cash, expensive cars, and luxury houses. She was also popular for using cuss words and even racial profanities in her rap videos, which were considered bizarre and inappropriate by many given her young age.

The youngster soon gained millions of followers on various social media platforms through the videos. Her videos were mostly based out of Beverly Hills, California, but it was found later that she hailed from Canada originally.

However, she went missing in action a while later, after reports surfaced that the cars shown in her videos actually belonged to her mother's boss. Her mother was a real estate agent who was fired from her job for illegally using her boss's car. It turned out that lots of the houses in Tay's videos were actually properties that were up for sale. 

In July 2018, Lil Tay posted a similar Instagram story, saying, 'Help me'. There was no update on the message on that occasion either. In October 2018, a person who claimed to have worked with Lil Tay in the past, uploaded a video with her, with the caption, "This was Lil Tay the last time she was happy, 2 hours before Christopher John Hope, her abusive absentee father who hasn’t been in her life for years, handed her a court order forcing her to go to his home in Canada in which she was constantly abused by Hope and his wife.”

Despite allegations of abuse against him, Tay's father Christopher Hope stated in a 2019 interview with The Blast that he intervened in his daughter's life to protect her future. "I felt I had to step in this year because I felt it was my responsibility to try to keep her safe and keep her future from being ruined by people who just want to make money from her," he said, adding that education ought to be her focus and not social media. 

According to The Sun, Christopher Hope further said, "My daughter wants to pursue acting and singing, and I support her 100 percent in following her dreams. I think she was given bad advice about many things earlier this year, and she was steered in the wrong direction by various people. I hope my daughter is able to follow a path that will make her happy, keep her safe, and allow her to grow up into the amazing person I know she is." 

Where is Lil Tay now?

Lil Tay's social media was not updated for two years since the 'Help me' message in 2018. However, fans believe that her latest message might be hinting at something serious concerning Tay. "WHAT IS GOING AWN WITH LILTAY??? she even has a highlight that has a story that says “help me”? WHAT IS HAPPENING WHAT IS GOING ON GUYS," a Twitter user posted. 

"Bruh did lil Tay died or something," another fan imagined the worst possible scenario.

"One of the weirder things I've see. On the internet today. Surprised no one has talked about how creepy this post is," one user said, while another added, "IM SCARED FOR LIL TAY I HOPE SHES OKAY."

Some even speculated that Lil Tay is pregnant, "Why people saying Lil tay pregnant how old is she now"
