Liam Payne gushes over new girlfriend Maya Henry, thanks her for ‘bringing back my happiness’
Liam Payne made his relationship with girlfriend Maya Henry official on September 20. He opened up about his relationship for the very first time the same morning he released his brand new single 'Stack It Up.'
In an Instagram post he shared on his feed, the 26-year-old expressed how happy he was in this exciting phase of his life. "Sometimes I don’t recognize this happy guy… sure glad you brought him back though,” he wrote.
The singer also thanked his fans and his team for making the week of the release of his new single "run smooth." "This has been my most amazing release week to date!" he wrote. Payne also gave one last shout-out to Henry, who he credited for helping him de-stress. "Last but not least this one @maya_henry for always keeping the biggest smile on my face through all the stress and making me realize how perfect my life really is," he wrote.
In the comments section, Henry wrote, “So proud of you and so glad we can be happy together. stack it up biisshhh.” It was in August 2018 that the couple was first spotted together, but they didn't start stepping out in public until this summer.
On September 18, Payne confirmed of KISS FM UK's KISS Breakfast that the couple is indeed together. "I'm very happy right now," he gushed. "I am very lucky. She is really great. She’s awesome."
When asked it if is difficult to date in the limelight, he said, "No, it's kind of got to the point [in] my life where I'm like 'Screw this. It's not worth my happiness."
“The difference is with her, she’s so relaxed that it helps me relax in a situation, rather than being somewhere and talk about who is watching and what’s going on,” he continued. “People are going to watch whatever. What am I supposed to do? I can’t do anything about it now. It’s too late for that.”
Before Henry, Payne was with Cheryl Cole from 2015 until 2018 and the former couple shares a 2-year-old son together, Bear. The singer had gone public with their breakup in July 2018 on Twitter. "Cheryl and I are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It’s been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together," he had written.
